Alexim: No achievements for the "GOG Edition"? Is Kalypso slacking off?
That's a bonus feature for some of us.

Lucky for us "No Achievementers", we just don't use Galaxy, and all GOG games have no achievements, and no multiplayer
Just Single Player gaming heaven.
No Store Client GOG "It's the way it's meant to be played".

It's why I came to GOG, DRM free is great, no store client is better than great.
Galaxy didn't exist back back then, I'm glad it does, because choice matters, and I choose offline installers every time.
So, if not clear, I'm only joking about the Achievements, it sucks for those that want them, but I'm still using it to make my point.

mrkgnao: Having read a bit about the game, my guess --- a complete guess --- is that it's called GOG edition because online multiplayer is possible only against other GOG gamers, i.e. not cross-platform. Again, a complete guess.
Not a factor, cross platform is the exception, even between Steam and GOG, never mind Consoles, and… errr Steam?

Seems to me "GOG Edition" is just another name for the "Complete/Definitive/WTF Edition" = Game+DLC+Deluxe Edition
Still, it's better calling attention to removed Content by calling it a "GOG Edition", than pretending otherwise, and hoping we won't notice.

May well also indicate that it's a specific deal made between GOG and the publisher to have this edition, as a bundle in this form, and also with this price, not a generic one that can be (expected to be) sold in other places as well.

At least for the moment, seems like a case that warrants raising the first class citizens thread from the dead a little.

Marketing BS, it's just BS to sell Product, hence we get "GOG Edition"

idbeholdME: Meh. From what I've seen of this, it looks more like a mobile game than anything else.
You must be playing some most excellent mobile games then, since the vast majority wouldn't be anywhere near this game's presentation or gameplay.

Well, it's probably the extremely consol-ish/mobile-ish UI that's putting me off to be honest.

But most importantly, it doesn't really look and play like Disciples.

micktiegs_8: Seeing 'GOG edition' game me flashbacks of Armello. What an infuriating experience that was, however I'm glad it's not the case here. Great release!

TZODnmr2k5: A new CRPG!? Thanks, GoG we can never have too many CRPGs!

EDIT: Apparently I read: “turn-based,” and immediately jumped the gun, as this is an RTS, not a CRPG, I suppose I'm starving for a new CRPG…
avatar
micktiegs_8: You mean TBS right? There's nothing real-time about this.
Yes, that is true; I usually lump all strategy titles into RTS, I suppose I'm so biased when it comes to my favoured genre (RPGs) that I'm not too concerned with acronym accuracy as much as I am with RPGs! :P

Thanks for the correction, as I was not familiar with the acronym; TBS, until now.
it is NOT DARK and very UN_mature plot.
And a lot of reviews on Steam that just copy-pasty store descrtion story about rich plot and dark-fantasy, visual style and etc...

Hmm...
The game looks interesting, but the gameplay seems slow (even sped up) and repetitive, plus the dialogue I heard in a gameplay video made my skin crawl, it was that bad. I'll wait for a higher discount.

Like every game does if you ask me!

I remember that's why I gave up on D2 years ago. It was interesting but unbearably slow in a long run.

Because it's not. It turns a very well-structured dark fantasy setting into a high-school tier adventure with flashy spells and a touchscreen-friendly UI. I'll just keep playing Disciples 2, thank you very much. Still haven't finished "Rise of the Elves" :P.

To be honest, Discipels 4 are better than 3.
- both Disciples 3 and Discipels 4 is far away from old Nevendaar;
- Discipls 4 even far more away, although Dis3 already is a mess high-school fantasy;
- Discipels 3 has no gameplay - corridor from A-to-B with very passive AI and game engine not supposed to be played online (unplayable buggy MP for all 3 Dis3 games);
- Disciples Reincrnation FAR WORSE than original releases - even more passive AI, more bugs.
- Dis3 devs - i mean, executive producer - is a iidiot. One person there screw evryone, own devs too. Psycho person hating everyone.

Reminder: Disciples 3 initially is singleplayer game (even no skirmish at start for russian release) - there is Disciples Online project that is work as multiplayer component. Web-browser game. And this is probbly best of what we got from Disciples 3. Although it not be so long avaialble in open-state for English version.
(also there is novellisation series, two of books based on the Dis3+Resurrection).

Discipels 3 is slow repeatative gameplay. It has nothing to make it interesting.

Disciples 4 have something, unlike Dis3 - in gameplay. But it still same high-school fantasy - even more high-school with hentai-like plot. But no hentai scenes. Low budget porno when there is no porno actions (if you see such things somewhere, im saw that on TV at midnight).
It has same korean-hentai models, animations like Dis3.

So, Dis3 have only soudtrack that is more-over good. At leat it perfectly fit game. Thanks to polish composer Daniel Sadowski (hmm... one of tracks later reappear in The Witcher 3 somehow, by agreement... or not)
Disciples Liberation have some bunch of average-low gameplay, maybe music too. Even if name Disciples 3 anything else - it still trash game.
Disciples Liberation - can be named anything else - and that make it less trashy, still low budget game. But for Dis4 most important - it is not Nevendaar. dickheads models (literally - look at screenshots in steam) and plot - make it not Discipels.

Original Disciples most rich sides is - plot, GFX(sprites+animation) and UI. And few gameplay features, like Plant Rod's. This one sides is a trouble for any nowadays games - for last 10 years or even more. Console graphics, console UI, low-budget plot (for games, for movies, for everything - it larger problem that just consoles game industry).

Both Dis3 and Dis4 devs cant do real mature dark fantasy. Making notreal-\porno - is a unmature move from them, not dark fantasy. Stole models from other games (eg Silent Hill) - not a mature move from Discipels 3 developers.
