gamesfreak64: .
I think there is an easy way to find if a game is coming to GOG from Steam, check to see if it was in a bundle previously, if it was the chance is good it'll end up here.

Woolytoes: Great! No, Mac/Linux version again.
You'll have to wait a bit:
"The Mac and Linux versions will arrive shortly."
I'm really not sure what the hold up is with the Linux and Mac ports; it's possible that there are QA issues they're still trying to iron out.

No, I don't. Have it on Humble/Steam already :)

OK. :)
Where is the Mac and Linux version?
I bought it and it's great! The only problem I have though is that custom campaigns aren't loading (I can't see any of them and can't download them). Does anyone know of a fix?

Mr.Caine: One of the most fun games ever made.
maybe ..., if you know the old c64 and the AMIGA in the old days, those had decent games, good graphics and all on a lightweight machine , no heavy console or heavy mega PC , cause the games were very good for that era.

I cant admire 8 bit clones that need a mega PC to run at minimum, cause i played these games on a amiga 500.
Anyway gaming is not what it used to , compared to the good old days : 70,80 and early 90s.
Those gaming days were far superior, and the devs admit that cause lately there have been many classic revivals of old 8bit like arcade games :D.... so the old days weren;t that bad afteral, but i guess that goes for evrything in the 70-90
was better.
End of the 90s , start of the millenium, is where all the crap began, only the older people know that cause they were young back then, our kids dont know better then the start of the 90s or maybe the start of 2000, they werent there.
People seem to have lost common sense, especially after 2000, and 2002.

Well, no mac or lnx version - so no deal here :P

chevkoch: Yeah, I figure the same - apparently it was made with Unity. Maybe some of the juice needed is for fancy effects, but I'd easily do without these if the game would be less hardware-hungry. I'm sure Broforce could be done so it'd run on older computers. Sucks for me I guess.

rampancy: It's another case of indie developers overstating/being overly conservative with their stated system requirements to avoid issues with people complaining about performance. It's happened before with other indie devs, and from their perspective it's fairly reasonable.

Despite the seemingly monstrous system requirements, I spent the better part of last night playing the game on WINE (staging-1.9.11, w/Mac driver and CSMT enabled) on a 2010 MacBook Air (1.4 Ghz C2D/2 GB RAM/256 MB GeForce 320m). I didn't even need to install or tweak anything else in winetricks. Sure, I had to disable post-processing and vsync, and I had to knock down the resolution somewhat, but apart from some minor lag in the 3D overworld map, and some slight delays in loading the game runs just fine.

And if it'll work on that setup, I'm sure it'll work on yours too.
You were so right. I spent the afternoon playing the Brototype demo (standalone build) - and it runs super smooth. I figure the full version is not that far off in terms of system requirements, but I'll chance it either way.

It's odd that the devs are being that cautious in stating specs needed, I would've passed on Broforce hadn't you posted of your experience. I wonder how this translates into sold units lost? Maybe not a whole lot, but still...

For comparison purposes, this is my machine: WinXP, AMD64 3000+ (2GHz), 2.5GB RAM, Radeon 9550 256MB

Thanks so much, this was unexpected and it really makes me happy that I can enjoy this game now!

EDIT: After more testing, not quite the happy ending I was hoping for...

System requirements should be taken with a grain of salt. For some games they are exaggerated while in others they would be closer to the truth.

Take a look at Undertale for example, the game has the same graphics quality of an Amiga game from the late 1980's, yet the recommended requirements are 3GB Ram and 512MB VRAM. This for me is misleading towards less tech savvy people.
Often with system requirements, the dev overestimates it on purpose so people won't buy a game that won't work on their pc.
I just think it's helpful if there's a demo available, so you can test it on your computer if you think you might be able to run a game. It's become rare though, I wonder why.

shmerl: Waiting for the Linux version :)
Same here, except for a Mac version. There is a Mac version available; I played the heck out of the Steam version. If a Mac version becomes available here I'll purchase two copies (one for a friend).

UPDATE: I bought it. I'll purchase a second copy at full price next month for a friend (out of money for this month). This may or may not be his cup of tea but if it's free and has coop he'll take it.
