Ah, I thought I got it during a free winter or Halloween sale giveaway but it was via GOG connect back in 2017.

I am certain there was a promotional giveaway for it at one of the holiday sales though. However, I could very well be wrong.

Addendum: Not that it is super important but I tracked down when Stasis was given away for free. It was during the 2016 Winter sale and free if you earned 15000 points from other purchases.

So, that probably clears up how Hummer010 got it but does not recall buying it.

So according to the title art, this is a game where you get to play as 80's Gabe Newell?

he´s stranded on a strange planet, fighting alien lifeforms. Later on, he decided to tell that story through videogame.
Similarities to a certain game are purely coincidental :D
Looks really awesome. Too many games on my playlist right now but definitely a purchase in the future.

zazak09: Thanks. It worked for me as well on the first launch, but every subsequent launch it hasn't worked even when installed on different computers. I'm at a loss what the problem could be.
It just received an update (at least on Galaxy). Try it again.

hummer010: Wasn't Statis a freebie at some point? I have it, but I don't remember ever buying it.
avatar
falloutttt: I don't think it was a freebie. Otherwise I would've have it, but I don't. :(
It was the top tier bonus in the Winter sale 2016, when sales still had these kind of rewards.

Edit: Oh, greyhat already had answered it. Must have been blind...

Yeah, you guys are probably right. :/

It's moments like this I wish I had a time-machine. But I don't, I'm still working on it...

It's still broken unfortunately. I'm hoping GOG will grant me a refund.

Did you see that the devs replied to your forum post? They are trying to help you, they just need more information. Maybe you should check out your thread in the game specific forum. They say something about logs that might help the figuring out what's happening to you.
I'm aware. We've communicated back and forth in this thread (https://www.gog.com/forum/beautiful_desolation/crash_at_launch)

I've already wasted hours troubleshooting the game, and now I just want to cut my losses.

Well this shot straight to the top of the charts. reminds me of when Disco Elysium did too.

This is an RPG isn't it? Or no?

Ah, I see. Did not realize that you discussed this already in another thread. It's understandable that at some point you just want to stop wasting time. Hopefully the devs will figure out the issue sometime in the future. I am sure GOG will grant your request.

It's been advertized as adventure and their first game was a pure adventure, so I am actually hoping that there's not too much RPG in it ... have not played it yet so I cannot tell you more.

No, you don't have stats to improve, levels or skills.
You've an inventory, where you can manage and combine items. You can choose between several dialogue options, but which is the end I don't know, I don't finish it yet.

It's a point and click adventure with emphasis in dialogue, collect items and resolve puzzles. Atmosphere and story are the most important things in this game.

You can play Cayne for free, to give you an idea of if Beautiful Desolation is going to like you or not.

What makes you think that?
I know it seems like every game is called an RPG nowadays... but where do you see "RPG" in the description of the game?

I didn't but the art style was very reminiscent of other RPGs, which made me assume it was an RPG.

Ah okay, that's by the same guys and not an RPG.
