GOG.com: Release: Asterix & Obelix Slap Them All! 2
I'm a huge Asterix fan.
I own all the albums and, to this day, still bought every new album - regardless the deaths of Uderzo and Goscinny.

But, alas - beat 'em ups are really not my thing.

A nice jump 'n' run on the other hand...or maybe a point 'n' click adventure...heck, even a PC conversion of "Risk - Asterix" (the classic board game with an Asterix theme slapped on) would be more interesting for me.

Edit:
I just thought of THE OTHER BIG GENRE, that is quasi predestined for an Asterix themed game: SPORTS.

I mean - they even made a comic about it: "Asterix at the Olympic Games".
How can it be, that that isn't used more often?

When you split the Olympics into Summer games and Winter games, you even get two full games out of it.
And the disciplines are already fix, so you don't even have to break your head, over what to implement.

The last (and only?) game with that theme (and title) is from 2007/2008.
And - apparently (I haven't played it) - that one wasn't a pure sports game, but also a beat 'em up (with some sports elements).
Which again: is not my genre.

But now think of something like "Mario & Sonic at The Olympic Games", but with Asterix , Obelix and the rest of the gang.

Come on, developers...2024 is the next Olympics (Summer games).
Granted - that may be a little too close to get a good game out, but in 2026 is the next Winter games - that should be doable.
And then in 2028 - the Summer games...

Make it happen.

This looks excellent. Hope it is better than the first part (i never played it), but the comments were not really positive.

This A point & click would make by far the most sense. Asterix comics are perfectly predisposed to be adapted into classic style 2D point & clicks. It's kind of amazing to me there isn't a whole series of those already after all these years.

That said, I'm still tempted to give the first Slap Them All a shot eventually because of the license. But the reviews aren't great, so I'm waiting for massive discount.

I know some "choose your own adeventure" comic books exists. A fellow GOGer told me about them, I was more of a "fighting fantasy" guy, and didn't knew about those books (even considering I'm french).
I think "choose your adventure books" or "books from wich your the hero" are fairly similar to point and clicks.
But Visual novels even more...

This does look a sight better than the first one, I was put off the first by the sheer number of negative reviews, combined with the absolutely dreadful game that preceeded it in Asterix XXL3. Hopefully they've cracked it this time. Will wait to find out more.

I was a huuuge Asterix fan all my life, especially in my younger years and it's amazing to see how close the graphics of the game look to the comics. But I also admit that beat-em-ups are not my genre. Maybe, if it gets some good reviews and it's on a sale some day I will grab it.
