I would say again...
the fact that we cannot check first game images or videos on gog, but we got second game videos and screenshots is big issue here...

GOG, you think Alwa Awekening is better as freebie... and tied to purchase. I respect that... but let us view what do we got in Alwa Legacy, both screenshots of first and second game please.
Looks great! (and that double deal is only available on GOG, it seems)

Breja: Not my style, but finally we get a game today with indeed nice and clear, playable pixel graphics.

Sidenote: that's a lot of pixels today. The indie scene's "retro" obsession clearly is never going ot go away.
i pray it never does. :)

SirMrFailRomp: Frankly I'd rather they stick with the pixel art than move on to PS1 era 3D.
i like the ps1 era 3d. it's the ps2 era 3d that makes me feel gross on the inside.

Ditto. :) I love me some well-done pixel art whether in 8-bit or 16-bit style. Couple that with some awesome chiptunes... Hoo, boy! ;)

Argh. True enough I guess.
A few questions for both games:
1. Are there any permanent missables? (In other words, is there anything that, if you don't get before a certain point in the game, you can never get on that playthrough?)
2. Are there any insta-fail stealth sections or anything similarly annoying?
3. How are saves and deaths handled?

I guess it's not so much the era I dislike (I think a lot of N64 games have aged much better). It's the specifics of PS1 3D that I can't stand: the fidgeting polygons and unfiltered textures.

musteriuz: Is this a platformer? A serious one, or more like Unepic? The description doesn't mention platforming, but the screenshots look like platforming.
Played Awakening on Origin Access, been wanting to pick it up but didn't want to be stuck buying it on Steam, if this one is half as good as Awakeinging it'll be worth buying.

Just a shame they added it right after I blew all my money on the sale :)

Is Awakeinging going to be permenantly part of this, or is that a launch promotion?

It may be a few weeks, or even months, before I have the chance to actually buy my copy.

Especially since I need to replace my controller b efore I pick up any more platformenrs or Metroidvania games, trying to play Cahsm after it launched here was an exercise in frustration on my keyboard.
Game still has zero reviews... offer is so, so good, go pay and play it....
I can sense the Zelda II vibe and I like it.

If you've played Awakening, could you please answer the questions I asked in my post regarding that game?

Speaking toward Awakening only, it's a checkpoint system. If you die, you start back at the last checkpoint you accessed. This means backtracking if you died rooms away from the checkpoint location.

There's plenty of instant death perils in the game, though I don't know if that suits your second question well enough. The usual stuff like spike pits/etc. You have a habit of talking about masocore platformers, so I'm assuming you'll know what to expect in that regard.

Looks like Alwa's Awakening is available separately now, too.

Which still makes Alwa Legacy better offer.

Depends on what you mean by better. In my case it's playing the old one for 2 bucks or not-playing both for $15 ;)
