Machinators: Why is GOG so fucking shit with pre-orders? It's been out on Steam now for 10 minutes and I still have no download links... This isn't the first time it's happened either.

Bluemagic0317: strange...
I'm using gog galaxy, and I'm already downloading the game...

Machinators:
Absolutely nothing "Strange" about it.

Offline installers. are made by a single person, working for GOG, not the developer.

Dev posts game direct to Galaxy, and you can use Galaxy, if you want.
If you want offline installers, you have to wait for the GOG employee to create them, and that must be done for every game, and update on GOG site.

It just takes a little extra time, and if you don't want to wait, you can use Galaxy.

Nice looking game, I guess. I already own all the other AOW games & DLC. Maybe I'll even buy it a few years from now if it has a platinum rating on appdb.winehq.org (not that that means it'll actually work for me, which is why I'll still wait until the price is lower as well). I think 37 games non-functional under wine and 31 more with broken movie playback is enough for now. Even aow3's editor is broken under wine (for me).

Also, this, available here is the one true Planetfall.

You should contact with the publisher and ask for a price match for the Age of Wonders III collection .

For example :

The base price of the collection on Gog is $74.71 while on GamesPlanet $49.99 . The discounted price $27.59 vs $15.99 .

I tend to avoid never Paradox releases, because of their endless list of day 1 DLC's. Inflated prices and rubbish amount of so-called 'Special' Editions. These practices stink of triple-A tomfoolery. I'll stick with the classics or I may eventually buy the complete game in a single complete package. To bad that a more worthy studio like Larian or CDPR did not get Bloodlines 2.
I do generally like the Age of Wonders franchise though.

Another Paradox Interactive game without Portuguese language support :(
I love the AOW-Series but past paradox-experiences and the technical problems the release still has...i will wait some month until i buy it.

SarahGabriella: The game is 100% playable without a internet connection in singleplayer. So there is no DRM. And requiring a Paradox account is normal for multiplayer, every game company does that.
avatar
scheuerman: This is not a true statement. Every game company does NOT require an account to play multiplayer.

Even here on GoG, you can find plenty of games (and companies) that do not have that requirement. You don't even need to look hard. Terraria is a good example of a game that has multiplayer but does not require an account.
Older games dont get supported so they got multiplayer in other ways, usually LAN or third party.
Did they leave out AoW Shadow Magic on purpose? The only entry without a discount...
Shame on you,Paradox, another game without Galaxy achievements support.

SarahGabriella: I dont know, i dont use cloud saves. Ask GOG. Tho its likely it allows for cloud saves like almost all their games.
avatar
mqstout: I only ask because Paradox' previous release -- Imperator Rome -- actively prevents Galaxy cloud saves.
Gog is not doing themselves any favors lying to customers

to answer your other question, no it does NOT have cloud saves on Gog [yet] but if you buy it from Gog then you also get a Paradox key to load their build and if you play that then YES you get cloud saves

Guess that it was missed by accident, but wasn't repaired due to short timespan of promo.

Nop, its not normal. Normal for DRM-FREE multiplayer is LAN (Local Area Network)

LAN isn't something obsolete for old games. It's normal network technology. Ususally implementing tcp/ip stack. Same protocol that this "Orvellian modern multiplayer implmentation" uses.

And also, game with offline multiplayer can be supported. It was called patches in old days. ;)

Why not? Normal thing on LAN parties.
You take router, connect 5 computers through switch with cabels. And lets roll... No need to be on internet. We playing in that fashion Starcraft 1, Warzone 2100, Total Annihilation, Heroes of Might and Magic 3 and many more...

TCP/IP protocol isnt bound to "internet".

Games dont always support LAN sadly.
