P. Zimerickus: Which title did you put up for a refund!

Let me start,

Title : Grim Dawn
Location : Alternative Dimension GoG
Date : Yesterday
Reason : did not work without galaxy - worked with galaxy right up until the character creation process.
Suspect : Windows 11 authorizations/cabinet system
You should report the problem to Grim Dawn's developers on their official site's forum:

I asked for a refund on Beyond Two Souls recently. I wanted to enjoy the game but the controls on Keyboard and mouse where annoying with prompts that made no sense. Although i asked for a refund i went and bought more games as a thank you for giving me the refund so gog got more money from me.
I think the only one or two times I've refunded a (GOG) game was when I accidentally bought the wrong edition of the game, e.g. with X4 I think.

One time I wish I had refunded a game as the developer/publisher apparently abandoned the game on GOG (might have been during the early access), but I decided to keep the game.

If I am unable to run the game but know many others can run it, or there is a chance to get it working, I usually decide to keep the game and just try to get it running.

One such game is Demonicon. Apparently it doesn't work for any Windows 11 24H2 users, but:

a) I have a Windows 10 laptop and another Windows 11 23H2 laptop that still run it fine, so I guess I intend to play it on those then.

b) I am waiting to see whether Microsoft will fix 24H2 update fixing this and apparently many other games that have stopped working due to it.

c) I was meaning to try out how well this game runs on Linux WINE. Linux is fast becoming the option to run some older games that refuse to run on modern Windows, like the games becoming broken due to Windows 11 24H2.

Might and Magic 9
Game has an issue with the Intel UHD 620 graphics, which is what was in my laptop at the time. This shouldn't be an issue at this point unless you're playing games on an old laptop. I've since repurchased the game.

Quilts and Cats of Calico
Game has DRM in it such that you need to play the game with Galaxy running. If you're offline (no Galaxy running), you'll get to a point where the game just hangs up. When I contacted GOG support about the issue, they were having a backlog on support tickets such that the support bots offered me a refund - I decided to take it. I also had notified the developer separately via their discord channel about the issue and while the developers said that this is something that they would need to fix and would take care of, none came before GOG support bots offered the refund. As far as I know, the issue is still there.
GTA IV, retail copy. The piece of shit simply didn't work, i got past the intro video smoothly and then everything was freezing like crazy (0-4fps) didn't matter if the setting was highest or lowest! The game was totally unplayable! Also box screenshots were lying! The graphics were much worse than advertised, the settings were busted i think, since there was no difference between high and low settings performance or otherwise. Returned the copy the next day.

I don't know where the hype for GTA comes from, maybe i should get the PS version and that would actually run? anyway i really don't have luck with GTA games, there was another title (think it was vice city something something) and that one had the worst mission at the start, some stupid police chase that was impossible to pass... every single "GTA clone" (Saints Row, Sleeping Dogs) was way better than the "real thing". I think this GTA trash is overrated.
I refunded Biotech (DLC for Rimworld) - I still own the base game here as I had bought it previously.

I wanted to buy another DLC shortly after but realised that base game + 2 DLC on Steam was cheaper than even just the two DLC on GOG.

Just a reminder that not all of GOG's customers are from Europe/North America. Or then again, maybe they are and there's a reason for that.

It was more or less also a personal thing. Maybe call it 'part of road to manly-hood'. Creating a deeper understanding of why you do 'stuff'. Breaking with age-old programming. Most of all, trying to be a bit smarter with money these days, and again awareness. How functional are these additions beyond 30 mins of research and a money transfer.

BreOl72: Since September 2010?
Exactly zero.
Likewise, except since November 2010 for me. :-)

I guess I've been lucky in that my computers have managed to run just about everything I've ever bought here.
There have been a few really old games that have posed a challenge, but since I paid very little for them, it's hardly worth the trouble to refund. And besides, I've kept all my old PCs going back to 1993, so if I can't get something running on this rig, I'm pretty sure I can get it running on an older one.

That said, I have paid for some new games here as well, one of which I recently spent over $100 for. And if I just couldn't get one of those to run, I'd consider a refund I suppose. But fortunately, every full-priced game I've ever bought here has run fine, so I've been lucky I guess.
