Yeah yeah yeah, i have seen countless people uploading full playthroughs, gameplay videos and footage from, games! Since i am a master at certain games, i would like to upload my runs, too!

So, i got and tried two programs, Fraps and one studio something, which had okinawa's symbol. None of those two worked out. Fraps recorded only programs it liked, like my internet browsing (no one could ever hope to "survive" watching that), while it refused to record anything from the game i wanted! And the studio something recorded, but with black screen, only sound; tampering with settings yielded no result, so i naturally, uninstalled it...

A trusted pal proposed me using Camtasia, but it has a timed trial and needs subscription. I might try to work like a ninja and capture all the game runs i want, but 30 days for my entire plan is too little, i guess...

So, anyone can recommend me a free, GOOD, recording program, to capture (and later upload here and there) my skillful game runs?

KiNgBrAdLeY7: my skillful game runs
Always so humble bradley. :P
I messed around for a while (back when someone here mentioned that a cancelled Saints Row for PSP had been released as-is by the developer, and I figured I might as well record it to show those who don't have the patience to figure out an unfinished and extremely bugged-up game), but have since settled on OBS Studio (or Open Broadcasting Software) for the recording I do (perhaps that was the "studio one" you mentioned?).

Now, I run Linux, and thus looked for a solution that works there, but OBS should be easier to get running on Windows.

OBS can plug directly in to some streaming services, such as YouTube and Twitch, but I don't care about those (I just upload the files when I'm done recording).

Do realise, though, that games use several different ways of putting their stuff on the screen, and recording software can have trouble with how some more exotic ideas of put-stuff-on-screen works. So you may need different applications for different games. Nvidia have a solution, which I forget what it's called, that you might want to try if you use their graphic cards.

I've tried many screen recorders in the past, the only ones which were good:
- Fraps
- Bandicam

But unless you want to record short videos, you'll have to pay.

Fraps has the problem of nopt always 'detecting' what you want to record, so of these 2, I'd recommend Bandicam.

Yep, that's the one i meant above, with the Okinawa Symbol! Didn't work for me, alas...

I prefer bandicamp over fraps.

If you mean NVidia Shadowplay, then here is a question: are you sure the problem is with the recording, and not playback? Are you using VLC media player to play back those videos or some other software.

It could very well be that the video is recorded properly, but your software can't play it back. Try this: Use it again and upload the video you get to youtube. See if you can watch it properly on youtube.

He was having problem with OBS Studio (or "studio something" in his own words).
In that case, if you haven't tried it yet, try:

NVidia Shadowplay (assuming you have the appropriate graphics card).
I use MSI Afterburners buildin recording program, it works nice but I don't have a clue how to upload my recordings to YouTube without YouTube compressing it to hell.

Shame, I had similar problems at first, because I use the open Radeon drivers (which is not applicable to Windows) and OBS would not detect that it supported a recent enough OpenGL, and there's still another problem with the same drivers which OBS later did add a workaround for (an option to "use alpha-less texture format" which I have to switch on for each video source it applies to).

Also, as I mentioned earlier, but forgot the name of, you can try Nvidia Shadowplay (thanks, ZFR) if you have one of their cards.

Strijkbout: but I don't have a clue how to upload my recordings to YouTube without YouTube compressing it to hell.
Upscale the video (to 1920x1080 if your original is in 1280x720, or 2560x1440 if it's 1920x1080) and tell people to watch that.

Yes, Youtube destroys high-detail video with its re-encoding, but allows for higher bitrates in higher resolutions, so 2560x1440 gets enough bitrate that an (originally) 1920x1080 video should look decent.

BUT no idea if it is good or not, but for home use it is free ;)

High level NVidia and AMD cards should support recording through their control panels. Failing that, you can always use the XBox app for recording screenshots and/or video.
Thank you everyone! Case solved thankfully, Bandicam set me up nicely! NVIDIA i tried, but my card is a bit older than the supported series... Also, the trial of camtasia works just fine, as an alternative! Thanks again!
I'm glad my suggestion helped.
For video editing, I'm currently using trakaxPC.
It's not amazing, but for that price, there's no complaints.
