Live A Live on SNES.

A J-RPG where you control 7 characters (and one hidden) in different times (Futur, Ninja, Western, Prehistorical).

It has a great story with surprising twists and a great OST composed by Yoko Shimomura (Kingdom Hearts, Super Mario RPG).

The combat takes a little time to get used to : It's kind of a Turn-based / Real time strategy game. The combat takes place on a small board where every character acts when it's their turn. But when you move you character on the board, the ennemy also can move and attack.
So you have to be careful not to get in the range of your enemie's attacks (diagonally, vertically or horizontaly

With Final Fantasy 6 and Illusion of Time, it's my favourite J-RPG on the system. It's extremely underrated and deserved to be played by every J-RPG fan
Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei I and II on the NES.
Shin Megami Tensei I and II on the SNES,
and Kyuuyaku Megami Tensei on the SNES (rerelease of the first 2).
there you go:

How the heck do I supposed to know if you have heard of it or not?

Anyways, I recommend Bahamut Lagoon, Treasure of the Rudras, and Treasure Hunter G.

And no, there aren't official english version.

...

(Isn't that how they show in JRPGs that nothing was said? Hence, you never heard it.)
