It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Hey, can anyone help me on these problems?
(the computers aren't mine, however, so I can't try anything directly)

1- can Office 365 read old files? (expecially on a Mac)

I've tried opening .xls, .doc, .rtf, but they appear grey in the dialog or cause a compatibility error popup.
Only new formats like .xlsx, .docx seem to work!
Do you know if there's an option, patch, or converter somewhere?

2- is there a clear procedure to delete\edit the first account in the default Mail program in Win10?

The button is missing and there's no config.
I've read that it could be tied to the MS account, but I don't how to check and safely edit that (without losing access, email, contacts).

1. Yes, Office 365 is always the newest Office (RTM) version, on Windows it uses currently Office 2016. If Office 2017-2018-whatever gets released and you are using an active 365 subscription you will be prompted to upgrade Office to the newer version. Happened to me while using 2013.
You need to press the security or readonly mode button and change to edit mode. It opens older xls files perfectly (some older ones i still use were originally made with office xp) If you want to convert them to newer file format, press the menu button on the left top side and then there should be a convert button there.

2. No, unless you want to lose all info from the app (Mail&Calendar). It should be connected to the Microsoft account with which you connected your local user OR the Microsoft Account which you used to create the user on the laptop/computer/whatever

In the file open dialog? I didn't notice anything there.
Mm.. I'll check it again next time.

Ugh.. what an horrible system.
The problem is that the first email added doesn't work.
How do I at least edit its settings? (username,pop3\imap,smtp,etc)

Thanks

Depends on how you added the account. Attachments related. I used GMail, it takes pop and imap values automatically. You can only change settings when you use lower values from the list (again attachment related)

You can remove accounts when not using Microsoft account (second pic related), IDK about MS account atm, work computer isnt using MS account. CBA to research about using MS account and AD users.

CBA? AD?
Anyway, mail was added manually, I think.
I know that other accounts can be removed\edited, but I'm stuck exactly about that first entry.

From what I recall, you can't delete the default account, so you'll have to add a new account, set it as default, then delete the old one. Might be mistaken though, haven't used that application.

I just removed the first one I added to the application.
Maybe it's about using Microsoft account to login as user?

@phaolo
AD - Active Directory
CBA - can't be arsed

Nice to know that is not the case. No idea then.

THat's the thing, my account wasn't the one I use to log in to the computer, it's not a Microsoft Account. When I go home in 6-7 hours I can try it. (I log in using my Microsoft account there, and I remember it automatically signed me in the Mail and Calendar apps)

Hai again.
Look at attchments, maybe it'll clear some stuff out.
I meant the enable editing
And the second pic if you want to resave into the newer pptx/docx/xlsx formats, you get it when you press the FILE button, next to the different tabs

ALSO, you can remove the Microsoft account email address from in-built email and calendar app, just tried it.

Oh hello, I thought you gave up lol.
Thanks and +1s.

Anyway about:
- convert -> wait, I couldn't even select the files to open. They were greyed out. The "Convert" option only appears after the file is opened, right?

- mail -> maybe MS updated the app? There wasn't any option on the first account, when I tried it some months ago. *shrugs*

What weird files are those. Never seen Office refuse to open doc, xls, ppt, rtf files. It can even open ods, odt, odp files now

Are you using a Mac and it's retarded Numbers, Writer whatever program? Compatibility issues then probably, those are Apple's programs you know. I don't know shit about Macs, sorry. Except for the fact they use a really shitty filesystem that should have been blown up 10 years ago, but is being still duck taped to work. Tried to learn, but got so pissed off because of the retardation that I started to learn Plan9 and Inferno instead

Are you using a Mac [..]
It's Office 365 on a Mac and the files are on Dropbox.
I thought that being online, it wouldn't have been much different from the Win app O_o
