Already wrote a message to support, but in the meantime maybe someone else can answer this related question:

Is it possible that the GOG store has a bug which prevents me from using the store credit if the original price of the game exceeds the store credit?

- I have a store credit of 3,99 USD.
- Game is currently on sale for 1,39 Euro (which *should* be covered by the store credit - but I can't use it for some reason).
- Original price of the game is 5,49 Euro which would exceed the store credit - but I'm trying to buy the game on sale.

There is no bug. You can only use store credit in the same currency that you have it. If you have store credit in USD you will have to pay in USD to use it, you can't use it when you pay in EUR.

Your store credit is in USD - set prices to USD, us said store credit. :)

I think the problem is that you can only use the store credit to buy games in the same currency. So if your store credit is in dollar, you can't use it to buy a game in €. Switch your currency to dollar and it should work.
Thanks! I wish I could mark more than one post as solution you've all been helpful. :) +rep for all though
