The GBC website says that the Fix command in GBC heals your entire party instantly. Does this mean that it takes no time within the games to heal? That actually has me a little concerned that it would make the games much too easy as restrictions on resting were always meant to be a major part of the challenge. Some players might like this, but I would prefer to play according to the "spirit" of the designers' intentions (i.e. I have no problem adding a Fix command to Pool of Radiance, which is a major convenience that doesn't change game balance, but healing with no time passing sounds like a major unbalancing change).

Am I correct about the Fix command in GBC (I've never used the current version before)? If so, is instant healing optional?

I'd like to use GBC, as it sounds like it has many useful features, but if it makes the games too easy without the player being able to choose, I wouldn't want that.

Well, The Fix Command is something you can use or not. If you do not want to use it do not use it, and use the original ingame FIX command for the games instead. You must remember that the FIX command was later added for the sequels

About your question, yes, it do. The guy implemented the FIX command as instant, while the original is some kind of multiple rests and casts squentially in an accelerated way but passing time regarding the game clock.

As a final note if is the only way to speed chore and boring things specifically in Pool of Radiance, a game without the proper vanilla FIX command.

About your concernings I consider that the games are hard enough with or without FIX command, it only offers quality of life, optional quality of life feature

Let me clarify a little more about my concern. My concern is not about the Fix command being in GBC. I actually appreciate having it in the game, and I don't care whether you have hit fix one time or several times to heal your party. What I am wondering about is whether the Fix command in GBC takes any game time. In a Gold Box context, what that means is that: is there no chance of your rest being interrupted while healing your party? The possibility of not being able to rest/of being interrupted was an important balancing factor in the Gold Box games and many other classic cRPGs that made sure the game was sufficiently challenging. So, in short, can you be interrupted while using the Fix command in Gold Box Companion? If the answer is no, can you turn that feature off so the games retain their proper (as I see it) challenge?

Using the Gold Box Companion FIX feature does not pass time and you are not interrupted.
But as I have pointed before, the old FIX ingame command is not changed or deleted, both systems are available (one using the GBC interface and the other using the original games interface as before). It should only be an issue in the first game of the series Pool of Radiance, without a proper original Fix command.
And even in that case you can choose not to use it at all.

EDIT: There is another example of these kind of things with Gold Box Companion. In GBC there is an option to advance your party levels without visiting the guilds or training centers, and not paying any money, just pressing a button. But that is something you can ignore and play your game with their own rules

The GBC FIX mode is not concerning to me, just personal preference, but the free training is a dfferent matter.

What I mean is that you can use the methods you prefer and ignore the others.

Greetings
