dewtech: Tim gets 3.3mn, but without a guy with a whip their budget overflows again and they need 8-9mn.
well, again the budget of the original was 12 million. And if you look at their pitch it's obvious they know they need far more than 3.3, Part they shell themselves, other part is coming from other sources, which I presume means either a big investor or a publisher.

Yeah yeah, can't trust old Tim after Broken Age. Fuck that guy, Molyneux junior and/or Todd(ler) Howard junior goddamnit.

I'll admit I found it funny when Tim Schaffer came out during The Game Awards

Other Game Studios: "Here is a trailer/preview of our next game that will be coming in the new year"

Tim Schaffer: "Please give me more money to make a game to a franchise you like? I'm good this time, honest"

I laughed when Bethesda then came out right after and announced that $1 million dollar prize for playing ESO.
A sequel to a cartoony platformer made by a terrible company. Woo-hoo

Never cared for Psychonauts in the first place?

So even now that he's actually given more approroate budget for a style of game he's proposing, this is still the attitude people have? For gods sake.

Look, Broken Age might not be your thing. But as far I'm concerned, it was perfectly fine game. not ground breaking in its genre, but fun game none the less.

(diclaimer, I'm not going to chime in on Psychonauts 2, not really my cup of tea. But still, I'm starting to be pretty annoyed towards the whole "Schaffer dun goofed"-weeping people still seem to have going on, despite a shit load of crowdfunded projects have shown that it's not just Schaffer that has issues estimating the budgets and lenghts of game developement projects.)

Not particularly
This will certainly happen...can't believe it's 10 years already since one friend of mine said to me "dude, you would enjoy this game so much, I guarantee!"...so I guess it's time to finally see if my friend was right. xD
No. I'm not throwing money into a bottomless pit. Schafer has shown he can't handle money. He is a creative mind, sure, but not apt at project management. He needs some producer who puts pressure on him. I can relate, I also need pressure to work efficiently. But that's why I won't give him any advance money. There are enough people who have enough lose change that they will back this and if a miracle occurs the first chapter to this game will be made eventually. And if it then comes to GOG or Humble, I might get it.

seppelfred: Don't forget to mention The Cave. I miss Costume Quest 2 and The Cave here most. Ah well, it's their loss too.
Can't talk about Costume Quest 2, but they don't have a say regarding The Cave. It's Sega's game.

hummer010: Is Broken Age finished yet?
Yet, it's been a while, but Broken Age is complete now.

tfishell: It is interesting to see GOG's sales figures. Less than I expected but not bad anyways -

Interesting indeed. The 136th best-selling game on GOG has sold 32600 copies.

The campaign is at +$800,000 with 34 days to go so it will get funding........ he just needs to show he has learned from past mistakes and blunders.
While DF seem to have made amends with the conclusion of Broken Age, it arguably didn't even come close to living up to the hype surrounding it...especially when other KS efforts and other developers like Wadjet Eye have (also arguably) done far more to revitalize and honor the spirit of old school point-and-click adventure games. Then there's Massive Chalice, which seemingly also fell far short of its promises. And on top of that there was the fiasco surrounding Spacebase DF-9.

Compare this to Hairbrained Schemes, who has consistently delivered finished games like the Shadowrun series, and even a physical board game (Golem Arcana) without any of the significant issues seemingly dogging Double Fine's titles.

In the end from their track record, Double Fine simply can't be trusted with crowdfunded money. In fact, with their recent record of overpromising and underdelivering, I'm tempted to even compare them to Peter Molyneux.

rampancy: I'm tempted to even compare them to Peter Molyneux.
Only Peter Molyneux can be compared to Peter Molyneux, he's simply one of the kind when it comes to overpromising. Godus will propably forever remain as the biggest crowdfunded pancake if Star Citizen manages to actually deliver even the fraction of what Roberts is visioning.

Next to them Schafer just looks a bit blue eyed.
I wouldn't even if I had finished the first one ;)
I loved Psychonauts but I might be disappointed with the sequel :(
