Fly me to the moon and let me play among the stats.

X4: Foundations is now available for pre-order, DRM-free.

All the building materials that define a true X-perience are here, this time fueled by an even more dynamic world and economy, plus the ability to slip inside every single ship, fly them around and upgrade them to suit your playstyle.

Pre-order the Collector's Edition now 7% off and score an exclusive paint mod, alongside its regular contents.

trusteft: 1) Regarding system requirements. I have a Nvidia GTX980M , is that going to be enough? First time I see a GTX 970 as a minimum requirement.
Also my CPU, Intel i7 4710HQ.
They might have exaggerated a bit, but we won't know until it releases. Their new rendering engine is using Vulkan, so it should be quite optimized in theory. In any case, I expect them to optimize performance once they start releasing patches for it, so it will be the worst on day 1, as it's always been, even in previous games.

trusteft: 2) Is there something missing or the Collector's edition only contains a paint job? I don't see anything else mentioned.
It is not very clear on GOG, but if you look at the Steam Collector's Edition, they explicitly mention 2 future expansions are included as well.

Themken: So is this confirmed to come Day 1 here?! Really? For sure? :-O
It better be. I just went gung-ho and bought the Collector's Edition :P.

They abandoned their steam only ways and release here. That's progress. A progress I reward.

Ad astra!

Mr.Mumbles: On the CE page it mentions that the future first two expansions are included in the package + novel, digital artbook, and soundtrack.
It wasn't there an hour ago, but yes, they've added that info now :).

I hope you are right. I have no interest in any other new (or future) PC only releases which might be hardware demanding. I have no intention on buying a new computer as they all only run Windows 10.
I use Windows 8.1 and lower.
Thank you for your reply.
This is fantastic news. Don't like preorders, but definitely want to support this move so what the hell.

avatar
Gylfe: Hell yes!

Ill be buying the CE to support the dev for not making us wait for it
avatar
lazydog: This is not a day 1 release.

Be extremely careful with this.
avatar
Gylfe: What do you mean? Its release date everywhere is Nov 30
Word from Egosoft is it's going to be a simultaneous day 1 release, unless there's information elsewhere that would contradict this?
Part of me wants to reward them for a day one DRM free launch, and I certainly have a proven interest in all things X in nature (even Rebirth after they cleaned it up), but my desire is tempered by the experience driven understanding that it probably won't be decent and possibly not even playable for like two years. Really torn on this one.
I trust a Linux version will follow Q1 next year.
For the love of.....please Egosoft don't fuck this up like Rebirth !

I really look forward to this game and seeing it come here so soon is great news.
I am both incredibly excited and exceedingly trepiditious.

For one, a GOG launch is ALWAYS a good thing...

On the other hand, I bought the last one...

Think I'll delay my purchase this time and do some looking into the game before shelling out on something that'll sit in my library with less than ten hours total playtime.
One word: epix!

Yet Windows-only, hopefully ports are in the works.
Well, you have to be very resistant to learning to pre-order the thing after the X Rebirth debacle. So I keep it in the eye and wish (and indeed for Egosoft) that it became a good game. But to know that, some patience and waiting for reviews is necessary.
But in any case a fine thing that it will be released immediately on GOG!

^this. Plus I also have a gtx980m and an i7 4710hq, so i'm not sure I will be able to run it anyway.

The pre-order paint mod just killed my interest for this game. I'm not buying this game unless they make it available when the Linux version is released.

It's amazing how many devs keep making this mistake - pre order exclusives are a bad idea and I'll keep my money till they learn.

I'm confused, it says you have to create an account and register your key.. How is this DRM free?

Let's hope developers will clarify this. I guess it's all about "exclusive paint mod" bonus, so maybe it's not a big deal if the game itself doesn't require any 3rd party account.
