Thanks GOG and NISA for continuing to bring this and Ys series of games, please make sure to bring the sequel too when it eventually releases!
The problem simply is... although this release is nice and great but... the huge fanbase already got the non EN release years ago... using a fan translation on it. So they actually may not care that much for a now "official EN release". The only true bonus is, the game is finally DRM free and surely in a finished shape.

So far, every Legend of Heroes has been released on GoG, so it is safe to say "we may get the upcoming titles too". Still, just as i said, on other platforms the non EN release was out for years already... and for those people not caring for DRM free... they kinda could pass on the current release. I still hope there will be sufficient sales on GoG...

Surely another nice bonus: We now have Japanese and English audio and subs fully switchable, which is a nice feat.

These are story heavy games. The "fanbase" would be me, and I sure as hell want an English version of it.
Dont get me wrong, in a absolute term the fanbase is not huge, this is a niche game, but in relative term... i guess the majority already got the non english release. I still think, the GoG release makes lot of sense because most of the huge fanbase may buy the game at least a second time. So... not even bad for NIS i guess.

No cheap games and no reason for it... as without the power of the masses a higher margin is critical. At least the price for my country, this time, seems fair to me. Sure... it is always a bit higher but not beyond the "usual case".

Bit of a contradiction in terms. no ?. XD
Yes... the world is full of contradictions, as it depends on the unique perception. As i told my perception was "in relation to the total amount", yet on the other hand the total amount itself is minor compared to "the big pool of gamers elsewhere".

No matter how we view it, this series is one of the best JRPG ever and i can totally recommend. Yes, it is very heavy on the language so it surely will not appeal to a majority but to those who simply enjoy story and "big tales" just as much as a good game play.

<sarcasm>Yeah so obviously everyone's going to play it in Japanese.</sarcasm>

You are a stream of nonsensical consciousness.

You are just making that up. You have no idea what most people did.

I guess they are remaking/remastering the Sky trilogy too.

I'm pretty sure some entries (like Trails from Zero and Azure) got not one but several fan translation and the official releases did just fine

So yeah uhh, maybe drop that argument? lol
It's coming! It's coming! *giddily hops up and down*
As (almost) always with NISA's Falcom launch bonus note that the soundtrack is not the full soundtrack but (in this case) 8 tracks, even if you get the "I am rich" bundle (which has all 5 paid DLC vs 2 for the medium priced one).

The Voice Set DLC currently has the wrong description, claiming it contains three "free sample" DLCs (not that the free sample DLC doesn't seem to actually be free or available at all other than as a luanch bonus). It actually contains three "holo core" voices (one seems to be a playable character in this game, one a major character in this one and playable in the next game in the series, and the third a character from some previous games). The "holo core" it seems is this game's version of the "master quartz" and it has an AI voice according to a wiki page I looked at that makes suggestions for navigation and combat (and can be turned off). I'm not sure if there is just one voice without the DLC or if there are a few options in the base game. Seems awkward to have an AI voice of someone in the party :/, so I suspect it is still the case that the game is just as good if not better without the DLC (although those two do have cat connections so there could potentially be some cute meowing in this DLC).
What the fuck are those prices????
unfortunately with these prices charged on GOG I will resort to other means to play. the deluxe edition is cheaper on Steam than the standard version on GOG

Sadly, when a publisher plays stupid pricing games like this there's little to nothing GOG itself can do about it.

They are what we refer to as NISA prices, which you'll see in all the NISA published Tales and Ys games. They're the primary reason I've lagged far behind in picking up all the title as I'm waiting for a very steep discount. I'm expecting the same if we ever get Sega releasing Atlus titles here.

The lower priced games in the series are those that were released by XSeed.

I do find bemusing the whole royal 'We' going on in the thread about an individual that had already played it with a fan patch rather than waiting for the inevitable english release.
