Cornerstone: The Song of Tyrim, an open-world action/adventure of wondrous exploration and intense combat, is now available for pre-order, DRM-free on GOG.com for Windows, Mac, and Linux with a 20% pre-order discount.

The Viking warriors of your island have gone missing and ever since then, stability and peace have been hard to come by for those left behind. The nearby kingdoms threaten the land or throw outrageous accusations at its people, taking advantage of their vulnerable state. Tyrim, a young village boy whose father was also part of that ill-fated expedition, decides to take matters into his own hands and sets out to find out what happened to the lost Vikings all those years ago, as he explores the picturesque but perilous island kingdoms of Nygard.

Cornerstone: The Song of Tyrim is a blend of gameplay mechanics that aim to encourage exploration, as the player tackles the challenges of the world in a non-linear fashion, according to his fancy and capabilities. Tyrim will have to craft items, upgrade his trusty Viking boat, solve puzzles, and fight formidable foes in gruelling duels that add some Dark Souls flavor to this Zelda-esque world. A true Viking must constantly prove himself worthy of such heritage and young Tyrim is determined to become the subject of many a heroic ballad.

Pre-order Cornerstone: The Song of Tyrim and accompany the young Viking in his epic journey to discover the fate of his people, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 20% pre-order discount will last until the game's release.

katiehal16: Glad to see folks are interested in the game! If you'd like to check it out first, we've got a demo available on our website here: http://www.postudios.com/company/games/cornerstone/index.php

No need to sign-up or anything to download and try it out, and we've got the demo for all 3 platforms as well. Thanks and enjoy!
Hmm.... Well, I have to say, I quite enjoyed that, thanks!

I think I'm going to pre-order this soon.

CharlesGrey: Great to see a demo available. Will the demo still be around, by the time the game is officially released?

Also, I found out this is apparently being developed by a Swedish team. For a Viking story themed game, I consider that a plus. ( Even if it's a heavily stylized interpretation of that theme. )
It will! We see no reason to take it down. :)
I didn't know Phoenix was publishing The Last Door 2. I hope it shows up here as well, been waiting for that.

Demos are good, thanks.

Oh, and could we have more open world exploration games with bright, vibrant colours that flirt, seduce & make love to our corneas?

Thank you.

Oh, yes.

I loved the "first" Last Door, in fact, I went over to their site & bought the lifetime pass.

I am more than willing to buy the Collector's Edition here.

Please, POS... er... um... Please, POS *cringe*, bring that goodness over here.

Definitely not what I expected based on the screenshots or description.

Some minor problems (as could be expected from a demo). Combat controls feel clunky, I'm not sure how it will work in boss fights. Regardless, I should have stayed away, now I have an urge to preorder and see what lies beyond the first island...
Well, I tried the demo & it's absolutely great.

When you start the game, you're immediately given stuff to do, and it doesn't take long before you get distracted by "what's over there?"

The first island is small, but I never felt bored exploring it.

Looking at the screenshots, I was expecting an art style like Monkey Island 4, but this is more like Sheep, Dog & Wolf meets Simon 3D, although it's not nearly as horrendous or nauseating as the latter. It's still a very pleasant art style.

The music is good at times, but most importantly, it's unobtrusive. It's there to set the tone, and at least in the demo it didn't feel out of place.

I like the crafting, which I never do in games, because it's very well executed & it integrates seamlessly with the game.

I will most certainly be buying this eventually, but not pre-order. I never pre-order.

Weirdest thing though, this game made me pine for an open world adventure game with the art & music style of MI4. Yes, yes, that game was awful, but it was pretty, the music was good and it had its moments. Leave me alone.

I bet these guys could do it. Cornerstone came so close. How do I get in touch with them so I can pester them incessantly about my new childhood dream?
