Blair Witch is now available for pre-order.

Blair Witch is a first-person, story-driven psychological horror game based on the cinematic lore of Blair Witch. It’s 1996. A young boy disappears in the Black Hills Forest near Burkittsville, Maryland. As Ellis, a former police officer with a troubled past, you join the search. What starts as an ordinary investigation soon turns into an endless nightmare as you confront your fears and the Blair Witch, a mysterious force that haunts the woods…
This is SO going to be my 2019 Halloween game! I'm going to Halloween the (bleep) out of it, or die of cardiac arrest...one of the two!

DDDespair: So is this going to be based more on the original movie, or the new one?
Umm...have you actually seen the "new" one? It's all the same, dude. The "original" and the "new" one are set in exactly the same universe. It wasn't a reboot but yet another sequel.
Ahhhh, the movie that created one of the worst movie genre of all time: found-footage horror
Well, i'm happy to see a new game for the Blair Witch series.

The first movie was not revolutionary yes, but i don't like it anymore.

The games though were something else. Filled with atmosphere, and also having Twin Peaks references (small town near the woods, The Owl, Hale, The Indian referencing ancient evil etc). You don't want anything else from a game, but a good atmosphere so it can immerse you. And all 3 games had it (the 3rd had good visuals/places/angles but the way the items showed up kinda sucked.

Let's hope we'll see all the old BW games re-released along with Nocturne!

I still remember seeing the movie in a theatre. It still is the single worst movie I've ever paid money to see and made me hate "found footage"-horror with a passion.
damn, I thought it was the old trilogy and was almost excited for a moment.
A dog you say?
*Checks the video on the store page.*
Nope, I could maybe brave this only with a whole pack of dogs by my side. XD
I've watched the movie from a VHS when I was home alone as a kid one night, and it was one of the scariest experiences of my life :/

but these demons running around, is that something from sequels, or entirely for the sake of the game?

MarkoH01: So another game from Bloober will be released here. Nice - but where is "Layers of Fear 2"?
I came here to ask that exact question . It makes no sense when the original and expansion were here from day 1 and a game that's not even released yet is avalable for pre-order.
I never liked the movie (not scary at all), but who knows, maybe the game will be good ? I would also like a release of the Blair Witch Project Trilogy from 1999-2000, because I liked Nocturne.

What's interesting and sad about this is that the rights for Nocturne are still held by Terminal reality.

Hitch42: This looks interesting, but man, let me join the chorus of people that was excited to think that the original Blair Witch trilogy (and possibly Nocturne) were coming to GOG. Those are my current holy grail games here.
Mine too man, maybe they will release at the same time as the new one plus those classic games. We can only dream.

Ah Nocturne. I still have my big box copy of that one. Come to think of it, I remember starting it but never finishing it. This has made me think I should rectify that.
I too was kinda sad this wasn't related to the Terminal Reality games. Oh well.

Wrong. That "honor" goes to Cannibal Holocaust. Released almost 20 YEARS before The Blair Witch Project.

Kunovski: these demons running around, is that something from sequels, or entirely for the sake of the game?
The latter. Although the last movie had something similar. But it's pretty clear the game (at least this one) is not going to be based on any of the movies (best case scenario, it'll be sort of like a prequel) so whatever we see here it'll probably be unique to the game IMO.
