Between Horizons is a narrative 2.5D sci-fi detective adventure. 33 years into the Zephyr's journey, its mission is suddenly jeopardized. Can you find the culprit before it's too late? Experience an enthralling story set in a semi-open world that branches and ends based on your choices. This title is now available to pre-order on GOG.
> Playable on December 31, 2023

sounds like an unlikely release date, not to mention it's more than a year away. what idiot pays for a game that much in advance? (rhetorical question, I know many do, and a lot more than this.)

GOG.com: Pre-order: Between Horizons
Looks nice enough to be wishlisted.
But - what about the "Genre: Real-time" part of the game's page?

Is there an actual clock (countdown) running in this game?
Is there a preset number of turns (actions) after which the game will end?

I guess, I leave it off my wishlist for now.

Buying a game 14 months ahead of time? Why? This isn't the usual type of pre-order or early access where the game is almost done and you can at least begin to tell what the final product may be like.
Well, people fund games on Kickstarter so this is a bit like that for later stages of development but more reliable for the customer. An advantage of preorders vs early access is that if the developer decides to spin off some of the game into a day one DLC you are still within the refund period at release.

Hopefully this one uses some of the next year to improve the character art to match the much nicer background art.
GoGFundMe ?. ;-)
Sweet! Preordered here because I can't on Steam.

...
Looks like a lot of fun. Interesting premise.
The game was set to release on GOG on December 31, 2023. I was looking forward to play this for the holidays but despite being marked as released, there are no installer to download. So I checked on Steam and over there the game is set to release in 2024. Apparently the developer or the publisher made a mistake when configuring the game page on GOG. Can someone at GOG fix this issue so that people don't end up purchasing a game that is not released yet.

Edit: I reported the issue to the publisher on their Discord channel.

Maybe they meant the day after?

One would hope...

Did you submit a support ticket to GOG?

Didn't, probably should. I'll wait a couple of day to see if I can get an answer from the publisher on Discord.
The page for the game has been changed to "Playable on January 2, 2024". I will see tomorrow if that's really the case.

Edit: However in my game library it says "This game will be available for full download on Mar 30, 2024". Looks like whoever tried to fix this issue ended up creating a new one ^^'

That sure is some nice soon, considering it is nearly dinner time in Minsk.

I also like how this game mixes pixel art & 2D in such a poor way as to require an idiot vision to help highlight things.
Something seriously weird is happening here. Every day, the game switches its release date to the next.

And I think that's been happening nine times now.

"... nine ... times."
