The chronicle of the Third Era is about to be revealed!

Age of Wonders 3, the long-anticipated continuation to the fan-favorite, award-winning strategy series, set in a robust and beautiful world that becomes the scene for diverse, complex, and engaging gameplay, is available for pre-orders on GOG.com. Depending on your location you'll be charged $39.99 or the USD equivalent of £29.99, or €39.99. An extended Age of Wonders 3 - Deluxe Edition, featuring a full soundtrack and the Dragon's Throne standalone scenario, is available for $44.99, £34.99, or €44.99. As a special pre-order bonus, both versions include the Elven Resurgence, a standalone scenario DLC.

Imagine! Empires rising and falling before your very eyes, led to victory or defeat by heroes of legend so powerful that they appear to be titans in the eyes of mortals. Sorcerers harness the arcane powers to bend the rules of the world around them. Theocrats twist the wills of their followers with the holy aura bestowed upon them by their deities for their zealous service. Rogues rule the shadows, taking any chance to strike and win before their foes even realize there is a war to fight. Warlords earn the loyalty of their legions by the glory gained in the many battles they emerged from, victorious. Archdruids become one with nature, and the land itself rushes to their aid. Dreadnoughts rely on the art of engineering to construct their unstoppable artificial armies. All those powers, all of their miraculous exploits, all of their desires, all thrown into one realm of war. This shall truly be an age of wonders!

With Age of Wonders 3, Triumph Studios aims to set new standards not only for the acclaimed Age of Wonders series, but also for the turn-based strategy genre itself. Taking advantage of all the modern gaming bells and whistles, the title will deliver an impressive level of complexity in gameplay and an immersive, lush, and diverse gameworld that can become your own for hundreds of hours. With the ability to choose one of the six leader classes, you'll be able to custom-tailor your empire--and by extension your experience with the game--to your personal gameplay style, so you can enjoy the extensive campaign the game offers in any way you like. You'll be leading into battle armies recruited from within six humanoid races as well as some fantastic creatures and mythical monsters. The turn-based tactical combat itself will prove to be a challenge for the most seasoned of strategy gamers but also scalable enough for beginners to enjoy. With over 50 location types to explore and exploit, hundreds of abilities to master for tactical and strategic advantage over your foes, visually stunning presentation, and a smart random scenario generator providing virtually limitless replayability, this upcoming title may prove the only turn-based strategy game you'll need for many years to come!

Pre-order Age of Wonders 3, for only $39.99 or the USD equivalent of £29.99, or €39.99 on GOG.com (or opt in for the splendid Age of Wonders 3 - Deluxe Edition), and secure your entry to the fantastic realm of power and dominion, which opens to all the brave souls approximately on March 31. Note that Age of Wonders 3 is the first title with regional pricing on GOG.com in quite some time and this means that we are charging the USD equivalents of the official regional price.

Note, that just as we have done before in such occasions, we'll be throwing in a little something extra to the deal, to accommodate those of you, who end up paying more than the others due to the currency conversion rates applied. We've picked some games that fit well with the genre represented by Age of Wonders III, and if you're one of those people, you'll get to pick one of them. You'll be sent a gift-code allowing you to redeem one of the following excellent titles: Master of Magic, Lords of Magic: Special Edition, Eador: Genesis, King’s Bounty: The Legend, Disciples II: Gold, and Etherlords II.
As far as one of the three troublemaking, regional-price-inducing games goes, this one actually looks interesting in my opinion. Not my cup of tea or anything, but interesting nevertheless.
Well I'm interested. Not full price interested, but put a good discount on this a few down the road and I might bite.

Haven't had a chance to fully read through the posts yet. Pleasantly surprised that for once Australians are lumped in with US pricing. Not so good for the UK looks like US $10 more and EU US $15 more for the standard edition, doing a rough currency conversion as I can only see my own region price.

** Soundtrack question
So with the deluxe version since at a minimum it is US $15 more for the soundtrack, is that in a lossless format (eg FLAC) or just MP3. Hard to justify the extra price at the best of times, even harder if it ends up being just MP3?
I'd assume it is a higher price again for our UK and EU friends which doesn't make it very good value.

Because 40 dollars equals 40 euro.
Good one GOG. I guess you don't need principles when you have success.
Remember us, your loyal customers who you're stepping all over?

Potzato: ...What the hell were they thinking ?

Trilarion: If we charge differently we can make more money and our retailers are happy and we still need them and GOG really wants us that badly and of course... we can make more money. I guess.
Yes. For an IP that was kept alive by a community of modders/mappers, I find that quite unsettling.

PetrusOctavianus: But if the core game play is still there and they have improved the AI, I will buy it once it comes on sale.

Potzato: They seem to have vastly improved the random map generator (RMG in short). That alone is no small feat in my opinion.
But what use is the best RMG in the world if the AI players can't use half the things on it? In AoW:SM they could not use any recruitment sites or Quest Stones, for example, so it was useless for single player at least.
Thankfully there are some very good user made maps available.
I just checked with which gifted games the EoW II comes and wanted to add to my former rant that this offer kinda looks ridiculous. I actually was interested in GoW III, but I am certainly no fan of the genre in general and all the games offered as "compensation" are, in my opinion, just crap. I really don´t know why I should want even one of them. To me it looks like GOG just pulled the first games out of their shell that vaguely looked like they somehow fit the theme of AoW III. At least they could have offered a bit more variety.

Sure, I know that a lot of people will like those games, but this is a question of personal taste and to me they feel more like a cheap distraction than any form of "compensation". In fact they make me feel a bit like someone is just laughing into my face.

I beg to differ, these are solid titles (if we are talking about MoM, King's bounty, Eador ....)
I'm seeing it as US$39.99 for my side but I feel the pain for the Europe guys seeing how you have to pay so much more over there. Kinda disappointing seeing that one of the three games responsible for this is actually AOW3 and Triumph Studios since I'm so used to attributing this type of stuff to the evil publishers instead of a game that I'm really looking forward to. The other 2 games better not be any of my favourite studios...

$11 price hike?
I feel very sorry for all those overseas. Except the Russians, you guys make out like bandits, good on ya. :P

It is great to see more from Triumph Studios on GOG, I have yet to be disappointed by them. Good, solid games all around. I really, really hope this means Overlord 2 will show up soon.
Your Tumblr BLOG has a bogus link to the AoW3 site. It doesn't even have a proper URL... it's just something like "age_of_wonder_3_pre_order" with no .COM or anything.

Niggles: quick question are these DRM versions a GOG exclusive?
avatar
JudasIscariot: We don't carry DRM versions :)

edit: that being said, as far as I know the DRM free version is exclusive to GOG.
Just realised probably easier to get my answer if I direct to one of the guys in Blue :)

** Soundtrack question
So with the deluxe version since at a minimum it is US $15 more for the soundtrack, will there be a lossless format included (eg FLAC). The game page only mentions 320kbs MP3. I can hard to justify the extra price at the best of times, even harder if it ends up being just MP3?

The other two games are The Witcher 3 and Divinity: Original Sin, Guillaume confirmed it in his open letter.
