Agatha Christie - The ABC Murders, an investigation/mystery adventure, is now available for pre-order for Windows and Mac with a 20% discount, DRM-free on GOG.com.

For some people murder comes as naturally as reciting the alphabet. For others the same is true for solving them. Hercule Poirot, the eccentric, mustachioed detective with the formidable grey cells, is one of those people. "A" is for his adorable belgian accent. "B" is for the impressive brain power possessed by such a little man. And "C" is for all the clues you will need to examine during your desperate investigation that will put a stop to the murdering spree of the appropriately named "A.B.C. killer".

For not only is this man terrorizing the British countryside by leaving a trail of alphabetically sequential victims, he even has the audacity to personally challenge the great Hercule Poirot by questioning his intellectual prowess. Such insolence cannot stand! Step into the well-polished shoes of the legendary detective, collect information, question the suspects and establish the timeline of the crimes. Your deductions will decide this sinister battle of wits and secure Poirot's reputation as the ultimate detective of our times. And the most modest.

Pre-order Agatha Christie - The ABC Murders, Hercule Poirot's latest adventure, before the curiously-named murderer strikes again! The 20% pre-order discount will last until the game's expected launch on February 4, 2016.

rgnrk: But anyway, even if I like Sherlock Holmes more than Hercules Poirot, at the end of the day Frogware games are based on new storylines from the developers.
Which is a good thing. I mean, what's the fun in solvng cases you already know?

WireHead: For Poirot though... there's only Suchet! He IS Poirot!
There's going to be a new Murder on the Orient Express movie, with Kenneth Branagh directing and starring as Poirot. I have to say, I can't really see him in that role right now, but I love Branagh so much as both director and actor, that I'm open minded about anything he does. Well, except Cinderella, I still have not seen that. Anyway, even though I'm not a big fan of Poirot, I will definately be seeing that movie.

IAmSinistar: ...But there are other good portrayals too as you point out. Case in point, I have just ordered Sir McKellen's take on Holmes to see how that plays out.
Huh, Sir Ian McKellen as Sherlock Holmes -- When did that happen? Never heard of this before, but added the DVD to my list at Amazon. Should be interesting, thanks for mentioning the film.
Not my thing but hey, if people want it...

I'm with you. I can never figure out it was Mr. Withers from the old haunted amusement park when I watch Scooby Doo; how the hell am I gonna figure this one out?

Painted_Doll: I'm sorry Gog but but i'm a Miss Marple ( Geraldine McEwan ) / Sherlock Holmes ( Jeremy Brett ) fan . :p
She was the best Marple, Julia McKenzie just didn't seem right

And I would have got away with it, if it wasn't for that meddling Frenchy.

The Idea of Poriot pulling off latex monster masks has brought a smile to my face.

I've just watched the trailer.

Poriot sounds rather American. Not even slightly Belgium/French
I have fond memories of the "Murder on the Orient Express". A relaxing detective hunt, on a luxury train holiday as you clue in to the suspects, and figure out the culprit responsible. While it isn't superbly different from other whodunit adventure games, I like it's style. :)

rgnrk: And I never really liked Poirot or Miss Marple as characters. I was always more into Agatha Christie's novels with no recurring protagonist.
Me neither. However, in the film portrayals I liked Peter Ustinov and Margaret Rutherford a lot, probably because they weren't exact portrayals of the book characters. As for Sherlock Holmes, I always pictured him like Basil Rathbone and I liked him in that role, but unfortunately not in all films.

That being said, I feel like Holmes, Marple and Poirot are overused and cheapened. A bit more originality, please!

snowkatt: no but i have seen albert finney as poirot in murder on the orient express
i usually like suchet better as poirot but not in this case

IAmSinistar: I've collected several version of Orient Express in different media, and have enjoyed each of them for their own merits. Suchet is the definitive Poirot for me as well, as Brett is Holmes. But there are other good portrayals too as you point out. Case in point, I have just ordered Sir McKellen's take on Holmes to see how that plays out.
oh yes brett is absolutely holmes no other actor can even come close to jeremy brett i have the whole granada series all i am missing is the tv movies

though i like the new sherlock tv series but thats a modern reinterpertation of holmes while brett is the perfect representation of the original stories

while i think suchet is the definitive poirot i didnt like him in murder on the orient express mostly because he came over as bitter and angry prone to fits a man on the edge of the breaking point while in the book he was his normal self

One story does have a wax Death mask used to scare the Killer into revealing themselves.

havent read that one yet
Interesting release. Haven't played one of these types of game since Case Of The Silver Earring. Too expensive though, and I dont pre-order, but gone on the wishlist.
No idea that this even existed, but really like the the art style and Poirot so definitely interested.
Wishlisted for now. I hope they get some of the other Christie titles, like Evil under the Sun. I can't bring myself to pre-order anything.
