It is hard to beat the price of complete systems vs building your own.... comparing stats on paper that is.

But when you start to look at individual component brands/models, then consider what among those brands/models are getting good reviews at the moment, then start thinking about the system you 'actually' want, can you buy that complete system so cheaply? Almost never..... back to building it!

What else is frustrating.... those sites that allow you to build your own system online,,, why the hell it always becomes so damn expensive at the end??? Crazy? I can buy 'exactly' the same parts from different sites independantly and shave thousands off the price, every time, why is that?

I've wondered that myself.

HereForTheBeer: Benchmark it? Curious to see how my soon-to-be GTX 1070 laptop stacks up against a desktop version.
You mean something like this? According to their comparison chart the laptop version is about 14% slower than the desktop chip, but still 19% faster than the desktop GTX 980.

Er, yeah, something just like that.

Damn, those are some tasty numbers. Really looking forward to this thing. Methinks like you're going to have some fun, too. : )
