Breja: Sure, I watched a lot of silly stuff, but I also watched Star Trek the Next Generation and Batman TAS and The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (the one with Jeremy Brett). I played Dune (the first game, by Cryo. My mom read me The Lord of The Rings at bedtime.

zeogold: What age was this?
Most kids here in America don't typically get to that sort of stuff until 13 or so.
About 8, I think. Except for Holmes, that was a few years later, I can't remeber exactly.

tinyE: So you're saying that it does look like it's crappy.
avatar
LootHunter: You can say that. Although there is no real crap shown, my first association is Raimi's Spider-man. It was also a story about a guy, who got superpowers, but was rather lame (story and guy both). In other words trailer shows a potential for movie being a crap.
You missed my point. :P

"The only problem is that trailer doesn't look like it's not crappy." is a double negative which means you were really saying that it does look like it's crappy.
It now dawned on me, that this is pretty much what it would have been like if there was internet around back when people saw the first trailer for Burton's Batman movie (not that I expect this movie to be nearly as good).

Oh god, don't get me started on Tim Burton! ;P

Hardly, Batman '89 came in a world that had already seen The Dark Knight Returns and Batman: Year One, and if anything it was orders of magnitude campier than those.

For comics book readers yes, but I imagine that for the wider audience the first thing that came to mind when they heard "Batman" was " Na na na na na".

KiNgBrAdLeY7: (FYI the original project is japanese and named "Super Sentai")
avatar
TARFU: I figured you personally would be waiting for the "Super Hentai" release, knowing what kind of guy you are...
GoG needs more hentai games.

Sure, but I imagine those people wouldn't be getting into arguments on the internet about this in the first place.
That doesn't look like a power ranger movie at all. But whatever it is, I am almost sure it will be better than that one power ranger movie. The one that took my 90 minutes of life away and made it as if it only took 30 minutes

That's for boring, normal, intelligent people. Those weirdos have no place here.

You miss the point here. It's not inherently bad that people try to make film differ from tv show. The question is if the whole concept of Power Rangers (teenage team with superpowers kicking ass of cosmic villain) can be made into serious sci-fi.
Burton's Batman (as you've been told already) was capitalizing on the darkness already tested in comics. In case of Power Rangers they just try darker tones without a thought if it fits.
I'd like to point out that some of the greatest and most successful films of all time were done with zero to no consideration of whether they would work or 'fit'. On top of that, many of them were told by Hollywood and fans alike they they would not work, and that making them was a colossal mistake, and as such would fail miserably.
