" People have been asking, and we have been promising this for years now, but today we are proud to announce that the source code for POSTAL is officially released to the public on Bitbucket, under the GPL2 license. Everyone now has ‘under the hood’ access, to see what makes POSTAL tick, and anyone with the time and skills can now tweak/change/update/modify anything in the game at all! And hey, if anyone feels the urge to port the game to other platforms (The Dreamcast, for example *wink* *wink*), then they absolutely can! "

Now I am waiting for unofficial Postal "Redux".
Someone please make it happen.
Maybe someone will finally turn it into a good game?

God, I hope not. Well, with the exception of the controls. It would be nice if somebody could fix the controls, I realize that it's a joke, but the turning is rather ridiculous.
Just one letter off from getting me really excited!

Thank you. But is there any chance for the new expansion of 2 and the remaster of 1, to grace the gog store, at long last? Why the delay? Let alone the distinction?
Bring Paradise Lost here or go fuck yourself, RWS !
Way to go. IMHO the source should be released for all games.
Damn, I thought that said "Postal now Open Sores".

Frankly I wasn't kidding and yeah, I also mainly thought of the controls. I wouldn't mind if someone actually gave the game modern twin stick controls and also tweaked the hit points / damage of both the player and enemies to make it more dynamic.
Well, now maybe someone can realize its true legacy as a letter delivery simulator.
I thought they could name it Open Sores.

The controls are more or less the biggest problem with the game. Well, the graphics could do for an update as it's kind of annoying to be so limited in the directions that you can shoot.

But, the game itself is clearly not for everybody. It's extremely low brow and really meant for mindlessness.

Also, I wonder what implication this might have for GOG, they generally keep things authentic, but I suppose it could allow them to fix bugs that only show up in certain versions of Windows as well as possible patches for any Linux only bugs.

I doubt it. I think games going open source is a case far too rare for GOG to have personnel for working on game code directly. I think it's far more (but still not very) likely that GOG will implement patches created by the community.
