Ive installed Witcher 3 through Galaxy but im wondering is it possible to uninstall the the galaxy client yet keep witcher 3 installed without having to uninstall then re-install the game.
If you only uninstall the galaxy client, Witcher 3 will still be installed and work.

Galaxy is strictly optional, and uninstalling it won't affect any of your games .
You will however lose your soul.
Thats brilliant. Thank you Xardas722 and Licurg

Unless the games are installed in a subdirectory of Galaxy... at least that's how it seems, from a few threads I've barely glanced at.

Why would anyone install them there ?

Beats me. They're used to Steam shoving them in SteamApps, maybe, and think that GOG games are equally tied to Galaxy as Steam games are to Steam so it makes some tiny amount of sense to keep it together?

As this user is saying. By default the program is designed to install games there. Guess I need to install GOG Galaxy on my other PC and try things out. But in the worst case scenario, in case GOG Galaxy uninstalls the games along with it if they're in the default directory, just move the games out of the install directory and to elsewhere.

I personally dislike the Steam/SteamApps/common setup, so its nice to see GOG allowing a lot of modularity regarding installation paths in Galaxy.

Nah, that happens on install of galaxy.

That was supposed to be changed long time ago already, ie. Galaxy uninstalls only files related to the client, nothing else. Even if they are inside the Galaxy directory.

That's how I remember it when a big bitching was raised about that. I pointed out though that that is exactly how Steam behaves as well, ie. if you uninstall the Steam client, it deletes all the games inside the Steam directory as well, even mod files and such you have put there yourself later.

What you say is true, but in my case Galaxy Client stopped working altogether (Windows 10) now I cannot completely uninstall it's traces, so I'm basically ....... unless waste a lot of times on moves and mucking things up, maybe ... :(:(:(
I just wonder how much does Galaxy leave behind in traces after an uninstallation.
