Hello,

I wanted to know, like my title says, if it's possible to buy a DLC and link it to my account, if the game is not ours. I explain myself: a friend "gave" me a game by passing me his account's email and password, so that I can download the game and have it in my account when I log back. But now, I want to buy a DLC from this game, but I'm not sure if that works properly, because that is not MY game!

So, I don't know if I'm clear enough, but I wanted to be sure before buying it :)

Thank you for your answers <3
1) NO, you can't buy a DLC unless the base game is in your library.

2) If your friend gave you his login and password details and you downloaded his game to your PC (which is against GOG's terms and conditions for sure), how can you "have it in your account", as you say?

Oh no, you're clear enough. You just posted on the GOG.com forum that you pirated one of their games. Well done you.
Well, I seriously didn't know that it was wrong to do this.... My friends always told me that we can do this and that it is a feature of GOG ><

The feature of GoG is you are allowed to use it on any computers in your household as you wish. Not to share it with all of your friends...
Well technically you can buy DLC for games you have yet to purchase,

For example, I don't own the Witcher 3 yet, but that's because I'd need to buy a new computer to support the graphical prowess. But I am enrolled in the free DLC program.

As for pirating games off of GOG, that's low. As others have said, you can share them, and trial them, but GOG is a great company that should be supported by purchase.

I'm waggling my finger gently. Don't pirate GOG games, please. They're not that expensive overall and a great purchase.

However, as someone who recently pirated EA's Sims 3, I'm not saying you can't pirate other things more deserving, such as a game hidden behind an absurd client/account system with even more absurd prices for purchasable content. I'm not about to pay 20 USD for virtual furniture or 500 USD for a buggy game.

Justifying piracy is nevertheless piracy-- to no lesser degree. Wasn't there someone on the Gog forums that justified pirating Gog games because he/she couldn't afford to buy them?

You've got bigger problems if you can't afford a 6 dollar game. Or less, on sale.
Most people I've met that pirate aren't short of money, they pirate because they get a kick out of doing it.

It's the same thing with kleptomania and I would imagine the same motivation.

I'll gently
wag my finger here as well. Yes, it's wrong to do this. As noted, you're free to install a game you bought from GOG on any computer you own in your household. But what you described is piracy. GOG serves up DRM-free games with the expectation that their customers won't pirate the games. It's already tough enough to convince publishers that DRM-free is a good thing, so please don't exploit it. Tell your friends this as well.

And welcome to GOG. Hope to see you around and purchasing games on a regular basis.
