the.kuribo: I also had some reservations about my young kids playing a game in which depictions of decapitations and limb amputations are treated so casually, but given the artistic direction it's much more like a Looney Toons kind of violence then it is a Walking Dead kind of violence. As I type this, I'm reminded that I probably should engage them in processing and thinking about these depictions -- while they are pretty benign, I think that is sort of the crux of the problem... I don't want them to be desensitized to it and I think it's important they internalize and think about what they are seeing as opposed to just letting it become "oh, standard, dude's head fell off".
Meh, personally I'm not too fussed about things like that, just let them play is my philosophy :). I give kids a lot of credit.

My wife and son are still into PvZ2 and PvZ:GW, they play them both every day. (GW is an online multiplayer shooter, so it's a bit different than the other two PvZ games).

There are a couple of new games my son plays every day as well (both are free Android games): Minion Rush and Minion Paradise. He was also really into Scribblenauts and Turbo Dismount for a while too recently, and still plays them occasionally. His latest discovery is Minecraft, he's borrowed it from the library a couple of times (PS4 version) and now it's on his birthday list.

My son really seems to prefer Android games over desktop computer games, I think he prefers the small size and portability so that he can sit wherever he wants to play.

Minecraft: Story Mode (PS4) - only the first 2 episodes (of 5) are released so far, but my son really likes it, he got it for his birthday last week (8th) and he's played them both through by himself twice already.
Hello, I have browsed most of your posts. This post is probably where I got the most useful information for my research. Thanks for posting, maybe we can see more on this. Are you aware of any other websites on this subject.

I'm not a parent, but I AM one of the youngest people on this entire website. While none of them are on GOG except for two Pajama Sam games, I can personally say that the Humongous Entertainment games were a big part of my childhood and hold a special place in my heart. Currently, all of them are available on Steam.
I would like to suggest some games, too
