timppu: But... who moderates the moderators? With unlimited power, comes... I don't know, something bad probably.
As some mentioned, there actually is some moderation, but it is pretty lax. They usually lock a thread only if someone is linking to pirate sites, or if someone says "shit" three times. Oh right, and they also banned that Babaji guy. I haven't seen him around lately.
Some users also seem to be quite active in moderation, by clicking those upvote and downvote buttons repeatedly.
Lost of sites have moderation. I think Escapist have good moderation and a good warning system too. (Expect for the short post one. I have four warnings from that stupid thing)
I'm quite aware of things such as the voting system and a lot of people are saying that they are happy with the way it is. Which is fine people are entitled to their opinions. However, I would not have posted this thread if I agreed with any of it.
justanoldgamer: I also don't think the forum needs more moderation then it currently has. There are time when I think someone crosses the line ( often someone I like) but over all the current system works. One just has to remember to never respond to trollish behavior or if you really have to then be polite.
This is true. I just find that it's really hard to have an open discussion or open dialogue without the thread either going way off topic or into trollish behavior.
Don't even get me started on anything critical. If you post an open critical thread on a game or a GOG policy then all sense of maturity disappears.
