Fuck moderating the forum. It's a big bundle of fun the way it is. I don't see why they should ruin it because one irritating little twat doesn't like swear words.

tinyE: I would encourage this for anyone that hates me because the second moderators show up I'm out of here.
My thoughts exactly squid face.

Okay, I'll admit it: that got a chuckle from me.

Thanks for providing an example why some measure of moderation maybe wouldn't be so bad.

What? Why?
But... who moderates the moderators? With unlimited power, comes... I don't know, something bad probably.

As some mentioned, there actually is some moderation, but it is pretty lax. They usually lock a thread only if someone is linking to pirate sites, or if someone says "shit" three times. Oh right, and they also banned that Babaji guy. I haven't seen him around lately.

Some users also seem to be quite active in moderation, by clicking those upvote and downvote buttons repeatedly.

Darthspudius called TinyE a "squid face", while TinyE's avatar is clearly one of those Space Invaders, not a squid. TinyE is a spaceinvaders face.

No. TinyE is an avatar of Cthulhu, so he's Cthulhu-face. But squids are way nicer than Cthulhu, (as in squids don't usually want to devour the whole world) so darth was actually being friendly. :-)

...the collapse of the entire universe. Anything with infinite power would have infinite energy and thereby also have infinite mass. And would therefore be a singularity with an infinite event horizon, which would encompass the entire universe.

Isn't Cthulhu technically a space invader?
I also don't think the forum needs more moderation then it currently has. There are time when I think someone crosses the line ( often someone I like) but over all the current system works. One just has to remember to never respond to trollish behavior or if you really have to then be polite.

Lost of sites have moderation. I think Escapist have good moderation and a good warning system too. (Expect for the short post one. I have four warnings from that stupid thing)

I'm quite aware of things such as the voting system and a lot of people are saying that they are happy with the way it is. Which is fine people are entitled to their opinions. However, I would not have posted this thread if I agreed with any of it.

This is true. I just find that it's really hard to have an open discussion or open dialogue without the thread either going way off topic or into trollish behavior.

Don't even get me started on anything critical. If you post an open critical thread on a game or a GOG policy then all sense of maturity disappears.

Magmarock: So I've made a wish list for forum moderation. You can vote for it here. http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/moderate_the_forums
i'm against it
we already have plenty of forums that moderate
this is the beauty of GOG, they are different, they are special
and besides freedom of speech goes with DRM-Free

btw i sometimes feel angry about many things i see here, specially the steam supporters agressive defense of their system, but there is no other way, you have to accept others points of view

Lifthrasil: Hm. Opening a thread that is sure to raise red flags and then not participating in the discussion. I think the OP was successfully trolling. :-)

The title might even be a hint: mod-irate (suggest mods and some people are sure to get irate) ;-)

But on topic (even if trollingly started):
We don't need no
Moderation
We don't need no
Thought control
...
It's called a life, and GOG isn't the only place on the internet where you can voice your opinion.

It is for me. Anywhere else I try to voice my opinion I get booted out of........by a moderator. :D
