I love Syberia, too.
But from the cryo games I played - they are not exactly like that. Most of them are more Myst-like, Atlantis 1+2 gives you a good idea what to expect imo.

I wholeheartedly support this notion and will sign whatever contract in blood or otherwise needed to make it more likely (full disclosure, I'm a major sucker for Cryo, and solved the orrery puzzle like a champ).

There's likely compatibility issues with some of the titles (spent many a night tinkering with the likes of Aztec), but we've had success stories even on the forums with Faust, so impossible is nothing.

You missed the original Dune from your list.

Frank Herbert's Dune was a later game -- the last one they made if I recall correctly.

OK, it's probably arguably more strategy, but it did have an adventure feel to it in many places.

What about the Captain/Commander Blood series too? Those were... strange games I wouldn't mind seeing again!

About the original dune 1992, am I reading this correct, from wikipedia (mega cd version is the best?):
The game was one of the first floppy disk games to be ported to the new CD format. The Sega Mega-CD version had graphics close to the Amiga version's, but offered the extras of the DOS CD-ROM version
Edit: I think the PC CD-ROM-Version is the best, since the Mega CD version was a port from the PC CD-ROM version as I understand it.

The Amiga version probably had better music, but get DOSBox working with MT32 support and it really doesn't make much difference, and sounds awesome either way.

Salammbo is propably the best game Cryo has had their hands on. I bought it from Steam sale and man, it is great. It is one of those games, which despite some bad design choices, makes playing it worthwile just because it oozes atmosphere. The art, music, plot and characters are superb in it.

Great, weird stuff those. The original Captain Blood was made by Exxos, who later formed Cryo. Commander Blood is set in the same universe but plays quite differently. I really enjoy both titles, though. Big Bug Bang basically takes the assets of Commander Blood (the video files, music, etc) and chops them around to make an ostensibly new story. I'm afraid the result is rather naff.

I have both Commander Blood and Big Bug Bang on CD if GOG needs them for encouragement. :)


Salammbo is available DRM-free from GamersGate. That's where I got it. It's based on the bandes dessinees by Druillet, which in turn were based on the writings of Gustave Flaubert.

I remember Dragon Lore being the second game I bought on PC back in the days. It was an era where the "French Touch" in videogames meant something.

Dune 1 is easily in my all-time top 10 videogames but being an adapation (both book and movie), I understand it's in some legal mess.

Lost Eden is a must, I only played the demo back then but the atmosphere was great.

Commander Blood was great also although it aways made my computer crash.
