hohiro: Somehow I doubt the 2-3 hours more in Ecomode, too. Where are these numers from?

zeffyr: It's from a store's page, big reseller, so the data may be true.

hohiro: The 1060 offers like 50% to 100% higher GPU performance though, so results in a way higher FPS rate, approx 1.5 times of those of the 1050TI.

zeffyr: Are you sure it's such a big difference? 15-20fps in W3, as others said before... Hmm.
In eco mode mine has an uptime of approx 3 hrs (with high brightness and working load) to 4hrs (with low brightness). Probably take a look at notebookcheck, their tests are quite accurate. A bit bigger battery wouldnt get around 1.5 times the uptime with way less weight.

The 15-20 frames are approx 1.5 times ;)

But as I said price and SSD speak for the newer model. Hard decision and it depends on how high details in games you want.

A little bit of thread resurrection. A year has passed since you've helped me choose specs of new laptop. I'd like to thank you once again for your help!

After discussion a year ago ended I bought said HP Omen with described specs and I chose older model, with i7-6700HQ and GeForce GTX 1060 onboard. Having a year perspective I have to say I'm very satisfied with chosen model - performance is top notch.

I was less lucky in terms of faulty hardware. During last year laptop broke down 4 times, each time it was the same failure - motherboard broke down. Each time, after 2-3 months of usage laptop would turn off normally, but it wouldn't start again - 0 reaction after launch, black screen and nothing more. Fortunately, D2D service has every time quite fast - it was repaired in a week - week-and-a-half time.

After 3rd failure service suggested that power adapter might be the reason of burned motherboard. They said they would send a new power adapter. Sure, why not. But unfortunately service guy forgot to send one... So after 4th consecutive failure I reminded about not getting a new power adapter, finally I got one.

Last failure was around February-March, so there's still time for laptop to break down ;-) I hope the power adapter was the reason alright and everything will be fine from now on.

All in all I'm very satisfied of performance, quality of materials and design. A little less satisfaction comes from downtime and frequent repairs. But I'd buy this model again and I'm very happy I followed your suggestion about GTX 1060 :-)

Thank you! :-)
