The ultimate Mortal Kombat experience is back on modern PCs! With over 30 playable characters and stages from all previous parts of the series, Mortal Kombat Trilogy is truly a crowning achievement in the history of fighting games. Now you can enjoy it on GOG along with a toasty 10% discount that will last until 22nd August 2022, 1 PM UTC. If you already own previous games from the series, the same discount will rise to 20%.

Wait, there’s more! Until 22nd August 2022, 1 PM UTC, you can buy other great games as a part of our special Classic Twist sale featuring unforgettable classics. You can also read an article about the classic Mortal Kombat games on our blog.

So, let's all wait for the “Fight!” signal and let Mortal Kombat begin!
Thank you
Some games from Bethesda don't have discount and are part of the sale.
On the one hand, it'd be nice if people would read the thread before asking again the question which was already answered repeatedly.
On the other, since it is an obvious reason for confusion, the situation being so counterintuitive, considering the title, it really should have been explained in the news post.
(It is explained in the linked blog post, but that's different. And speaking of that blog post, the link to MK4 is to the Polish site. And in terms of series, should have mentioned MK: Conquest too, at least for the unusual ending.)
Me and this one go waaay back. Never thought I’d see the day it’d come here and I could buy it again. This is an old picture, but I still have my original big box copy from when this released. If I remember correctly I’m pretty sure I have a huge packet of papers printed out from GameFAQS with all the combos and fatalities, etc. Good memories. Instant purchase!

Definitely one of the best catalog additions since MK4, thank you GOG & Midway!! (WB?!)
I need it to have it to have them all!

Unfortunately when affordable: $7 (my region) -vs- $9 (USA)

To give reference: MK123 $2vs$6; MK4 $2vs$6 (the same price I bougth MK4 when released here)

So, I hope this is a regional pricing mistake or I'll need to wait until gets a larger discount...
Anyway, the good news is that is already here waiting for me. Nice! :)
I played Mortal Kombat alot when I was kid.

I watched the movie a few days ago, it was damn awesome. I wish Witcher TV-show was more like it.

OPlays22: Is the DOS version included? Thanks in advance.
avatar
Spectrum_Legacy: I would say that it's not included as of now since mktril.exe seems to be missing within this release. That was the original dos-only executable iirc. Wouldn't hurt if gog actually provided it for sure.
Thank you for this information.

Spectrum_Legacy: Oh sorry, didn't mean to put you on spotlight like that.
No worries. I was dancing around the subject that's why you didn't pick up on it, I admit it, but I think most people in the same geographic region have had "shady software dealings" at some point in the past, especially in the 90s... once I had a job and could afford buying games, I did, and was happier because of it. There's nothing like a fully patched-up and officially supported DRM free game, after all.

Note that the DOS version doesn't have CD music or LAN mutiplayer (I think). Other than that there seems to be a problem with input lag that DOSBox has not yet addressed (it's a known issue, without a fix). Still, for historical purposes, it would indeed be nice to have the DOS version added as a goodie.

You can still do integer scaling on any resolution using GOG's own ddraw wrapper, which is included with the current version (see attached).

Thanks! Didn't know that. Wow! o_O
I would certainly CERTAINLY buy Septerra Core, if it hadn't that awful enemy respawn, like in the Sacred games!

Dos version has both cd music and lan multiplayer available, but it was finicky to set up (I don't remember if it is ipx/spx or tcp/ip already), but you have to manually configure everything and launch the game with it as parameters or bat. We did lan-parties back then with p2p cross connection and I remember it taking considerable effort until we nailed it. Dosbox itself might introduce some unique issues though, I really can't comment on that.

What I would like is actually just gog leaving the original files in, even zipped and tucked sideways so casuals won't be confused what to run. Nobody asks to support dos in 2022 or even add dosbox version to perfectly fine win version... just leave the og files in for those who have retrobuilds or want to emulate dos outside of windows. That's whole different topic though, game preservation, etc... and gog isn't about that after all.

About integer scaling, the gog wrapper looks legit to me. I integer-scale on gpu since ever they finally added the option to do it. However the lowest res has to be 640x480... for lower res games, I have to either use crt, or run x2 scaling and then integerscale from that point. Still, good info about the ddraw wrapper, thanks!

I very much doubt the CD audio mixing would have the same quality in DOS, but yes, it appears you are correct :P. How odd then. As for the networking bit, it was IPX/SPX for sure, but DOSBox comes with a built-in translation layer for that AFAIK, so it shouldn't be a problem.

That being said, I don't see a major impediment to a DOSBox release... it could very well be added as a goodie, GOG willing. Aside from minor input issues (which the original DOS version of MK3 also has on DOSBox, by the way), it should work just fine.

Nice release!
What we need is MK Armageddon! I'm not sure if they released that or the others such as Deception on PC, but hell yes, keep the MK titles coming

Unfortunately Armageddon had no PC version, pretty sure Deadly Alliance to MK vs DC had no PC release so Mortal Kombat 9 would be the next viable option.
