I don't mind temporary exclusives, they essentially allow a game to receive beta testing and patching without me having to pay for the displeasure. Looking forward to playing Phoenix Point.
Oh I forgot that was a thing. I heard there were a lot of problems with the 3p1K release last (?) year. Did those ever get fixed?

Breja: Well, I guess it has been a while since I last missed at point blank range five times in a row and then got killed by an enemy I couldn't even see from the other end of the board.
Ballistics in Phoenix Point work differently from XCOM games, so you would have to do that on purpose. You can still get shot from the other end of the board, tho.
Las time I checked on this Time Units weren't in, has something changed?
I would like to point out that this announcement is only on Facebook page update from November, 17. There is no corresponding news (yet) on Development Updates. And "Phoenix Point" is not yet searchable on GOG site search - again, it might be temporary.

Also, while Snapshot's Facebook announcement from November 5 mentions GOG, there is no such mention on their announcement of the PC release as you can see in the attachment.

I am not trying to curb someone's enthusiasm, but after all Snapshot's shenanigans I would have erred on the side of caution.

Snapshot Games is rolling out survey emails including the question if recipients want a GOG or Steam key. Their communication skills haven’t been the best, to say the least, and the gaming studio also got bought by the Embracer Group (which bought 12 gaming studios in total in the last shopping spree), so I can imagine that this also messes up their communication abilities even more.

dtgreene: * Fails to describe what sort of game "Phoenix Point" is.

Ancient-Red-Dragon: It's an XCOM clone.
Phoenix Point is an X-Com clone made by the inventor of 1994’s X-Com (Julian Gollop), with elements of new XCOM (2012), which also is an X-Com (1994) clone.
OT: I'm looking forward to this game, but I'm not in a hurry. I still have XCOM2 and XCOM: Enemy Within backlogged (an so much more).

That's XCOM for you. :D

It's definitely a more interesting system than the usual percentage to hit. I liked the demonstration that the direct aim option even allows for firing through walls at enemies that aren't in a soldier's line of sight.

It is also confirmed from their FAQ:

Will Phoenix Point be released on GOG?
Yes, Phoenix Point: Year One Edition will be available on GOG.com as of December 3rd.

Finally it’s on their website now, too. Snapshot Games is really messy about putting up relevant info in time.
Julian Gallop is a bit of a game dev legend, so i'm keen to get this when it arrives. I know a lot of people got (rightly) annoyed when at the last minute they said it would be an Epic exclusive, despite running a kickstarter etc. That was shady.

And probably because of that i'll pick it up in a sale, as it would feel sort of wrong to reward/encourage devs/publishers for underhand moves like that imho.

Having said that i was really liking what i saw in the dev logs and hope with some mods it can become the classic that the original Laser Squad and X-com games were.

So late. Already had the Ultimate Edition with the season pass for like a year now.

Still haven't played it though, DOH! Waste of money? Maybe. I think of it as an incentive for more Gollop games.
