I have Titan Quest Anniversary Edition version 2.9 with the Ragnarok expansion. I tried installing the new expansion, Eternal Embers, but it doesn't work. I still have the Ragnarok start screen, and nothing seems to have changed. I assume I need to upgrade my game from version 2.9 to version 2.10.6, but there is no patch in the "view downloads" section for doing that. What should I do?

Any time there's an update to a game's offline installer, but no accompanying patch for updating from the previous version to the new one, you're pretty much stuck downloading the full installer and installing from that (you generally shouldn't have to uninstall the old version first). The only alternative is using Galaxy to update the already-installed game, but from what I hear, there's no guarantee it won't sometimes just end up re-installing an already-installed game from scratch anyway.

You can download and install the 2.10.6 installers for both the base game and its DLC packs and it should work. If it still doesn't, then uninstall the game and its DLCs (make sure to NOT DELETE your save files when asked!) and then install everything again.

I'll add to the reply from Gargar. It might not be a bad idea to backup the save folder and the settings folder before even attempting the uninstall. Since that msg window always seemed backwards to me, when you uninstall, at least for Windows 7. I've made the wrong selection in the past, with that folder being deleted.

This saved me a lot of time, since in some games I adjusted a lot of the settings in Options (or wherever). Who really enjoys spending more time in that section of the menu constantly lol.

To resolve the issue of installing the "Eternal Embers" expansion for Titan Quest Anniversary Edition, follow these steps:

1. Check for Updates:
Ensure that you have the latest updates for Titan Quest Anniversary Edition and its expansions. Sometimes, updates are automatically applied through game platforms like Steam. Check for any available updates for the game and its expansion packs.

2. Verify Game Files:
If you're using Steam, you can verify the integrity of your game files to ensure that they are not corrupted. Right-click on the game in your library, go to Properties > Local Files, and click on "Verify Integrity of Game Files." This will fix any corrupted or missing files.

3. Manually Download Patch:
If you need to update to version 2.10.6 and there's no patch in the "view downloads" section, you might need to manually download the patch from a reliable source. Check the game's official website or community forums for any available patches. Make sure you're downloading the patch from a trusted source.

4. Check Official Forums:
Visit the official Titan Quest forums or the developer's website for any announcements or solutions related to installing expansions and patches. The community might have insights or workarounds for your specific issue.

5. Contact Support:
If none of the above steps work, consider reaching out to the game's support team. They should be able to assist you with troubleshooting and provide guidance on how to update your game properly.

Remember to always back up your game saves before making any major changes to your game, such as installing updates or expansions. This ensures that you won't lose any progress in case something goes wrong during the process.
Thanks, ChatGPT.

Well, I couldn't find the necessary patches to update 2.9 to 2.2 (which would allow me to use the patches on GOG to get to 2.10.6), so I tried uninstalling the game (and the Ragnarok expansion) and reinstalling everything using the 2.10.6 versions, and that did allow me to install Eternal Embers (complete with the new mastery), but it also caused numerous problems (like grayed-out portal stones, grayed-out skills, characters appearing in the wrong places, etc.), so I uninstalled the 2.10.6 stuff and reinstalled the original 2.9 versions, and that fixed all the problems, but now I'm back to square one. I also noted that after I installed the expansions and put my old characters into the new savegame file, the version of the game reverted from 2.10.6 to 2.2, and I have no idea why or what to do next. Any suggestions?

Grargar: [...] (make sure to NOT DELETE your save files when asked!) [...]
FYI: As far as I've been able to tell, GOG didn't and doesn't actually customize the uninstall routine on a game-by-game basis to account for where each title stores its save and config files. The uninstaller asking whether you want to delete save games is only relevant if the game in question stores save data in the installation folder or a subfolder thereof (since this folder is what the prompt is really asking about, despite the wording). Because almost no games from the last 15+ years store save data in the install folder, whether or not that directory gets deleted generally won't affect save data retention unless the game is from the early to mid-'00s or before. In the case of Titan Quest, apparently even the original 2006 version seems to have saved the files in Documents/My Games (as does the Anniversary Edition), so the above caution is unnecessary in this instance.

Not specific to this game, but you need to make sure the version/build designation for any DLC you're installing matches the version/build designation for the base game. (Though I'm guessing it would probably give a "wrong version" warning and fail to even install, I don't know, as I've never tried to install a newer-version DLC on an older-version game, or vice versa.)

It seems like you're encountering issues with updating Titan Quest Anniversary Edition and installing the new expansion. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

1. Check for Updates: Make sure you're connected to the internet and check within the game's settings or options for an option to "Check for Updates" or "Update Game." If an update is available, this should help you upgrade to the latest version.

2. Steam or Official Website: If you're using Steam to play the game, ensure that your game library is set to automatically update games. If you're not using Steam, check the official website or platform where you purchased the game for any available patches or updates.

3. Manual Patch Installation: If automatic updates aren't working, you might need to manually download and install the patch. Visit the official Titan Quest website or forums to find the latest patches and installation instructions.

4. Verify Game Files: If you're using Steam, you can try verifying the integrity of the game files. Right-click on the game in your Steam library, go to "Properties," select the "Local Files" tab, and click "Verify Integrity of Game Files." This can help fix any corrupted or missing files.

5. Contact Support: If none of the above steps work, reach out to the game's official support or community forums. They may have specific solutions or workarounds for the issue you're facing.

Remember to backup your save files before attempting any major updates or changes to the game, just in case.
@HunchBluntley,

I have a somewhat related question to @RW1954's:

I have Titan Quest and its expansions on mobile platforms (iOS, Android) but recently bought and am now using regularly a small Linux laptop that I tried to install Titan Quest AE with the 3 expansions on. I did so through Lutris which uses modified runners to download the programs from my GOG account and install them through Wine on my Linux machine.

All the loads were successful, and I tested the combined installation twice-- first after initially downloading and installing Titan Quest AE, then after installing all 3 of the DLC expansions. Although each time the game started up fine, after all my installations were finished, I was expecting to get an introductory screen that showed both Titan Quest and its DLC campaigns (e.g. Atlantis) as options to start. However, instead, when I finished the complete installation, the only option I have is to play the Embers DLC.

If you've installed Titan Quest AE + its 3 DLC expansions on Windows (or LInux like me), I was hoping you could let me know if the game starts the same or different for you (i.e. once you've installed Titan AE + 3 DLCs do you get an intro screen to select to start from any of the different campaigns)? If so, I suspect the scripts I used from Lutris didn't install things correctly, and I welcome any suggestions from you or others on this forum as the best order you would recommend to install Titan Quest AE + its 3 DLCs.

Thanks!

Hi, I have Tiitan Quest AE and its DLCS installed on my offline windows machine. Titan Quest allows the player to begin his or her quest in one of three locations throughout the campaign when creating a new character, depending on the DLCs installed:

- As a level 1 Hero in Helos, the default.
- As a level 40 "Accomplished Hero" in Corinth, with the Ragnarok DLC installed.
- As a level 70 "Legendary Hero" at the Summer Palace, with the Eternal Embers DLC installed.

Another way to deduce the success of your installation is in the options - General; Menu Scene. I recommend the Original so you can listen to the wonderful Ancient Greek intro song. As for the installation order... without any experience in fiddling aroung needlessly, as when installing the Sims expansion packs, I can only say it seems logical to start by installing the DLCs in chronological (release) order: Immortal Throne, Ragnarok, Atlantis, Eternal Embers.

Wow, great, thanks, @SultanOfSuave!

I apologize-- I didn't see your reply initially. Your solution answered my question 100%! I went to General, Menu scen and could choose from any of the locations so its seems it actually did install correctly :-). It just wasn't intuitive to do that (Go to General, Menu Scene)-- on the mobile devices it actually shows the different locations in the intro to pick from.

Since I didn't see your response, I started to ask the question again to the whole Titan Quest forum but will try and delete or close out that post now.

Have a great rest of your week :-)
