paladin181: What is OTVDM?
Good explanation: http://www.columbia.edu/~em36/otvdm.html
If you ever want to install the Win95 version of Panzer General or the official release of Anstoss 2 Gold
on your 64bit Win10, then it's time for otvdm. It will enable you to run 16bit apps on a 64bit OS without
the problems that come with the installation of a virtual machine.
Darvond: Also, GOG used BoxedWine for Voodoo Kid.
Voodoo Kid runs just fine without BoxedWine on Win 10.
Right now BoxedWine supports only a few apps (and doesn't even deliver CD-ROM support),
but surely it makes sense to monitor its further development.
joshallenwrench: I mean civilization 1 from microprose should 2k or firaxis ever add it back here
What you actually mean is: back in the days (particularly in the Win 95 era) a lot of programs
that already had a DOS version were re-releasedwith 16bit setups. The most used solution in
order to install such 16bit apps on a 64bit OS is to use a virtual machine (VirtualBox, VMWare
Player). otvdm makes the installation process of these 16bit apps much more easier.
