I understand there are plenty of games here that are multilingual, but few are in both text and audio, especially with Japanese. I found an old list that hasn't been updated in a while, and some of them are falsely listing games as both audio and text in japanese (notably, games that don't even have voiceovers).

Seeing as i'm able to speak japanese, but a native speaker of english, it's hard to benefit from the spoken japanese dialogue (which i've noticed to be significantly different at times from the english translations), when translated english is presented directly in front of me. I've also recently had a desire to actually play such a game, so i don't have to play the mental censorship or juggle the two versions simultaneously.

Another issue is, the main point of this is reaping the benefits of the original content, so it's kind of pointless for titles that were originally written in a western language. Translation issues, lost content issues (just like when coming to english), etc would naturally be ever present.

So, do any of the Japanophiles here have a list of games on GOG that have both audio and text available in Japanese in content originally from Japan? Whether it be by default or some sort of mod i could download and archive?

Not entirely sure if it matches your criteria 100% but Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun (https://www.gog.com/game/shadow_tactics_blades_of_the_shogun) has both japanese voice-over and text and takes place during the early Edo period.

Thanks for the reply, but no: it was originally made in either english or german, as the writers were Martin Hamberger and Dennis Huszak. The focus is to find content that was originally in Japanese, and retains it's original japanese text and voice. Basically, I'm trying to find Japanese games that have voice acting but can be restored to untranslated states.

I don't have such a list, but I know that there are a few games that don't have Japanese text on GOG, but have Japanese text on Steam.

The three Hyperdimension Neptunia games available on GOG only have Japanese audio and English text, but they are available with both Japanese text and audio on Steam.

The same was the case for Recettear and Chantelise, but both those games were removed from sale on GOG anyway.

I have both those games, actually. Did recettear and/or Chantelise actually have voice acting, though? I only ever really played them long enough to ensure they worked, and that was over a year ago.

They're both not fully voiced. There are a few snippets of Japanese voice audio during the dialogues and battles and the intro music has Japanese vocals.
What irks me, is that the text can easily be switched to Japanese on Steam, but not on GOG. I've contacted GOG support about bringing the Japanese text to the GOG version, but it never happened (probably because the publisher doesn't care about GOG, seeing that they never tried to get their game back here).

Ah, there's the kicker. I have both games, but they're the gog versions. I've heard strong arguments before about japanese audio, but I can't fathom why japanese text versions are not allowed here except to prevent Japanese people from buying them (not that it's any major deterrent for them, anyway).
