I already own Witcher 3 and wanted the 2 expansions Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. I bought the expansion pass to get both. Instead of getting them it emails me telling me its giving me the Game of the Year Edition for free and the 2 expansions show I haven't bought them. Problem is the save games from the original games wont transfer to the new game of the year edition because it treats that as a totally separate game. Instead of just installing the 2 expansions it wants to totally install another 30+ gb. Anyone else run into this?

Check your game library. The expansion pass should have both DLCs listed as separate under the main game.

When GoG added the GOTY edition, they also made it so that when you buy both expansions, you also will be given the GOTY edition as well. You should have two Witcher 3's in your library. The GOTY edition, which is packaged together and the regular Witcher 3 with both DLCs listed as separate downloads.

If you are using Galaxy, I'm not sure how it handles it. Just in case, I'd look for the independent installers.

Maybe its taking a while to replicate or something. At first the store only showed the expansion pass and game of the year as OWNED but not the 2 expansions themselves. I waited some and refreshed and now it does show I OWN the expansions but its not showing under the regular game as DLC. Maybe I need to wait some more and close and open galaxy a few times. I just found a post of someone with the same problem and they said they finally got it to install but didn't say exactly what they did other than close and reopen the program,

They should actually be under the options section of the game in your Galaxy library. There will be check marks to install them or not.
I know this is a really old topic and I don't know if you guys could help me. But i got the xbox game pass for free for 3 months, and that includes the witcher 3. I really like the game so I want the expansions to, so I just bought the GOTY edition but now I can't seem to use the saved games from the witcher 3 from the xbox game pass. Anyone that can help me with this?

Game Pass editions of games usually store their saves in a different location than the versions of the game sold on every other store.

Check in "C:\Users\*YourUserName*\AppData\Local\Packages" and look for a folder referring to Witcher 3. I can't tell you exactly what it will be called, the folder names are usually overly long but contain the name of the game and/or the publisher, sorting by date modified might help when browsing.

This folder should contain a folder called "gamesaves". Copy the "gamesaves" folder to "C:\Users\*YourUserName*\Documents\The Witcher 3\" and the GOG version will see them.

Thank you for the quick response, but I'm playing on the xbox one :)
