Well, the replacement arrived and it's deadpixel-free.

But... There were four clear fingerprints on the screen.

Which means this was a return? And that makes me wonder whether there is anything wrong with it.

I *think* that if I display a full white screen the bottom half shows a yellowish tint. But I could be just imagining things now. It could be just the OCD in me.

Wonder if my return won't be just shipped to the next person. But maybe it will end up with someone who doesn't care about dead pixels..

ZFR: What's your experience with dead pixels nowdays?
Of all the non-CRT monitors I've ever had (about 25 of them), only 2 or 3 had any dead pixels.. and those were on some super cheap second hand ones that had been stored on a pallet in a shed for 3 or 4 years (the other 13-14 in the batch were fine).

ZFR: What's your experience [with Amazon]?
Honestly, my experience with Amazon in terms of customer support has been great. First incident is when I broke the screen on my Kindle (that I hadn't even bought from them). Got into a live chat to see if I could buy a refurbished unit cheap or something.. they sent me a free replacement (slightly better model) instead. Maybe just clearing the warehouse as it was out-of-production at the time I think, but a great response nonetheless.

Second time was when my daughter put her Kindle Fire in a tub of water (they don't like that!). It was out of the "free replacement" period, but they gave me a decent discount on a newer one to replace it.

Replace your daughter or Kindle?
Don't think it has anything to do with Amazon. I bought an Acer Gsync monitor a few months ago and had to return and replace it like 7 times... And i still had to settle for 1 dead pixel because it was the best one i got. I'm just glad Amazon put up with that shit. One of the ones i returned had dead pixels and a hole in the top where light would leak out! If it was a dark room it would be too distracting. It just seems like some monitors tend to have lots of defects...
I've only ever had 1 dead pixel. Smack in the middle of my Samsung 65" 4K TV that I connect my consoles to.
