Folks,

Does anyone know if Strategic Simulations, Inc games like Phantasie, Questron and Magic Candle can be bought anywhere to function on a modern PC?

I have found them on Abandonware, but sadly they appear broken and I'm not skilled enough to try and resolve any issues.

Cheers in advance.
Those games aren't sold anywhere, but I'm guessing they don't need anything else besides Dosbox in order to function properly.

Most likely they work as easily as just installing Dosbox and then dragging the launch file of a game to the Dosbox icon which will then launch the game automatically.

Have a look on Google. There are generally a fair few guides on older games for various systems. A quick search for Phantasie gives several good results - although of course abandonware doesn't exist - it is really illegal so you would need to own a copy of the game to play these. Google search: how to get phantasie working on windows 7
I played QuestRon on the Atari800. 2 Disks if I remember right, although it might have been more. Not hard at all to find online, but lacking manuals is the real problem; I remember figuring out how to play the game by trial and error when I was 14 or so. Bumbling around, typing in commands and figuring things out by sheer accident.

Actually I remember someone covering the game a bit.

Thank you people, I shall have a check at what you've been saying and try a few of the options.

I DID own all the original games as a kid, hence the nostalgia, might even still be in my parents attic!

Magic Candle was not made by SSI.
