After years of gaming online and buying games on steam, etc, i've decided that i'd like to go for an "offline" approach with my gog galaxy library, I would like to storage all my games in a high capacity hard-drive.

It might be a bit dumb to ask, but here is my question:

-Regarding offline installers, they seem to leave a lot of gog branded files (which is logical) including installers, uninstallers, gog icons, etc. Can i delete all that stuff and leave the games as "pristine" as possible?, Just original files for the game. Basically, leaving no marks from gog on them? is that even possible?.

I suppose i'll still have my gog account in order to download them again in case i need backups (if installing mods)

I mostly play "modern" games from 2000's to date, no DOS games :)

depends, some gog branded files are there for compatiblity purposes, and it can vary from game to game. windows games not so much, but dos games are more likely.

If you're not going to keep (backup) them locally, then why download offline installers at all?

You are best off storing the installer file(s) rather than trying to backup the directory after the game is installed. The amount of space you'd save by removing those files is trivial anyway.

It's true in many cases you could delete the GOG icon or Galaxy DLL after installation and the game would still play but it's also possible that the installer is creating directories/files elsewhere that would not get created without running the installer.

So I think it's best to just backup the installers. And if you REALLY want a cleaner directory add a batch file along with your installer backup that you can run after the installer finishes to removes any files you don't want as part of the installation.

Before deleting a file I would 1st rename it and re-run the game to make sure it still works.
