Hi everyone, I had some specific questions regarding the offline backup installers. I'm sure these have been discussed to death in the past at various points, but I had trouble finding exactly what I was looking for, and also want to make sure I have the most up to date info available. I hope you'll forgive me if some of these have already been answered before.

Currently I use GOG Galaxy and am happy with it for the most part. However, I recently acquired enough hard drive space that I can seriously consider backing up my games and ensuring they're still available years or even decades from now (assuming I have a computer ancient enough to run them by then). So I'm wondering:

1. Are these installers completely offline and independent of GOG? If I don't have Galaxy installed, and/or GOG goes completely out of business and shuts down all its servers, will they still work, or do they have to check in somehow with GOG at any point?

2. Are they still DRM-free at this point in time?

3. When games are updated on Galaxy, do the offline installers immediately get updates as well (in the form of either new installers for additional patches or the original installers being replaced with newer versions)? Or do the offline versions lag behind or even completely lack some updates? Essentially what I mean is, if one of my games just updated today on Galaxy and I went to download its offline installers, can I be fully confident they'll be the same version?

Thanks to anyone who can provide some answers to these questions, I'd appreciate it.

1. The offline installer are completely offline for single player. You will not be able to play MP if the game requires Galaxy, unless the game supports LAN or local MP. If GOG gose out business, you will still be able to play you're games.

There is nothing on the offline installers checking with GOG. You can Install them completely disconnected from the internet. I do it all the time.

2. Yes, the game's are DRM free. I have over 1500 games and never use Galaxy. Now some would argue if they're 100% drm free because of MP.

3. It's a hit and miss. Most offline installers seem to be updated with Galaxy. But handful are outdated right now. With a lot that have got the latest update after Galaxy.

I hope my posted was helpful.

Re: DRM-free, a handful of games have content tied to using Galaxy. Cyberpunk has rewards you can only claim using Galaxy for example. The vast majority of games are completely DRM-free though, aside from multiplayer as Syphon72 mentioned above.
Both very helpful, thanks!
