"Stark Trek", is it a new porn parody coming out? "to boldly go where no man has gone before (stark naked)". :P

Breja: Actually my worst nightmare already came true when they released that new trailer with a Rihanna song.

Elmofongo: Well there is always the new upcoming series.......please.

Otherwise R.I.P. Star Trek when it was good (plays proper music)

Yeah, and the new upcoming series isn't based on the original star trek universe.

It's based on the "pay-to-stream-e-verse"!

Breja: I don't think this is gonna stick, they should have called it that officialy from the get go. Seven years later is a bit late to the party. Even more so considering we don't know right now if that universe is going to continue beyond (no pun intended) Star Trek Beyond.
IIRC it's already recognized in Star Trek online (not sure how canon that actually is) and will be used in the new show.
Official name for the new Star Trek Franchise/Movie Series? Well, let`s call it "Bullshit", that fits perfectly!

Huh? How would it be used in the new show? I mean, it's rather meta, so whatever universe it's set in (and I don't think that has been officially announced so far) I can hardly mimgine someone on the show using it. Did you get that from some news I've missed?

From what I remember, STO is considered official canon; I think it's where I first saw the official reference to the "classic" timeline as the "Prime Universe" as opposed to the Abramsverse.

Is it? Star Trek always had one rule- if it's only the TV shows and movies are canon. Novels, games etc never were considered as such. Of course, the "official" standing on the matter might have changed. Still, even if Online is considered canon, I don't think it will stay that way if ever we get another series set in the original timeline post-Voyager.

agreed
if they cared so much they wouldnt have thought up a nonsensical name 7 years later
usually i just call it that damn reboot
or star trek 11 and 12

I did a little digging and apparently STO is considered "soft-canon", for whatever that's worth. You are correct though in that online the films and TV shows are still only considered hard-canon.

Star Trek Online was basically considered "The closest we're likely to get to a canon continuation any time soon". Now that there's a new TV show in the works, it'll probably be overwritten right away.

Though apparently, the new show is expected to be a sort of anthology series, with a series of short storylines jumping around the timeline. It's possible they'll do stories in other universes/timelines too, so we might see the Abra- I mean, Kelvin Timeline and STO Timeline incorporated into the show at some point.
