I cant understand. My only LAN-Party was with Diablo 2 - but we had a lot of fun. In my eyes a LAN-Pary is very, very close to Couch-Co-Op. You are in the same room, you curse and cheer together. It's great, when you have like-minded friends.

My wife insists I should write that she was the one who dragged me to the LAN-Party with her friends and I didn't want to go at first.

Sadly, little by litte, life got in the way and all the people at that party scattered all over the world and we lost contact. Now the only LAN-Party we have is when we (me and my wife) play Diablo 3 together.

I'm a single player purist too. Used to play multi-player strategy games or play by email, but it wasn't good for my blood pressure.

Agreed. I don't play multiplayer games. Can't be bothered either. Even in UT I would only play against bots. Just a personal preference :D

Almost 100% SP only here. In most MP games I played, sooner or later the gameplay got ruined by people who only play MP to ruin it for others.

No there are many, many people out there who play lots of single player games. Maybe it feels that there are less because they might not tend to build communities as often as multiplayer games players.

I believe you are in very good society and stand quite close to the average gamer.

For example good forums about adventures playing are somewhat difficult to come by in comparison to your latest shooter or MMORPG.

I almost exclusively play single player and never on PC.

The only times I even touch multi player games is when I'm meeting up with friends and they have a console rigged up. We play mostly racing or fighting games then. Maybe a shooter every now and then, although there's only two shooters I've played where I even remotely liked the multi player. Time Splitters: Future Perfect and XIII.

Star Control II, Super Street Fighter II Turbo, Bomberman ... this is what I remember as the best in multiplayer.

Too bad keyboard-sharing two player games has died out.

I also prefer by far single player over multiplayer. That doesn't mean I exclude MP, but I enjoy way more single player games.

However, I am in conflict with multiplayer games all over:

I like dota 2 rooster and mechanics, but I would set people on fire because they are nasty individuals to deal with. Same with LoL.

On the other hand, dealing with people on browser games (Ogame, to give an example) was amazing: there were some really bright minds around, it was fun, and challenging; however, the game itself felt like a chore more like an ejoyable experience having to be there latched to the screen calculating to the second constructions, unit travels, spy missions...

So in occasions, I enjoy the game but the community seems to be trash to me, or enjoy the community but the game itself deters me from playing :S

I'm also mostly single player.

When I want to hang out with friends...I go hang out with friends. Or call them. Or text, email, etc. Or go shopping / crafting / carpentering. Or etc etc.

Sometimes I'll do LAN parties or at least everyone-in-the-room multiplayer sessions with close friends. I've got 1 MMO I play and frankly I usually play that solo with guild chat up.

After i started this discussion I realized this too.
My God, I completely forgot about Bomberman. I was the first game I played with my brother, and we had a blast with it. Keyboard-sharing … I forgot we used to do this. I’m feeling nostalgic …
