Hi all,

My galaxy client has this extremely obnoxious behavior. Whenever I change a download/game folder path using the cog symbol, it automatically resets itself.

Start client -> cog symbol -> Settings -> manage all paths -> select D:\Gog and D:\Gog\!Downloads\temp and D:\Gog\!Downloads
then if I restart the client, all folders are back to C:\

so I thought: OK, maybe I should run it in administrator mode.
Start client in administrator mode -> cog symbol -> Settings -> manage all paths -> select D:\Gog and D:\Gog\Downloads and D:\Gog
without closing the client I select
cog symbol -> Settings
and the backups and goodies folder is still set to C:\Program Files...

any ideas what else can be done? I would even be fine with any solution which brute forces gog to use a set of folders and prevents gog from ever changing these folders. I honestly don't even understand why goodies downloads go into a program files folder instead of a user specific folder...

Hello.

It seems that you have an outdated version of the Galaxy client, as current versions no longer have a cog symbol for the settings. Uninstall your client, download the latest version from the link below and avoid installing it in C:\Program Files (instead, create a folder for it, like C:\Galaxy or D:\Galaxy).

If you opt for preview updates and get the latest version (1.2.1), then it is impossible to change the path for downloaded backups.

In that case, I assume that your version is a different one and you probably didn't opt for preview updates (1.1.30). Thus, I would recommend that you install Galaxy in a different folder than C:\Program Files, otherwise changes you have made to the client's settings might not get saved.
thanks for your help! i indeed did not opt for preview updates.
