chadjenofsky: Like the majority, I never even considered defacing the manual. I wasn't one to beat up my belongings. That reminds me of the PC retail box for Ripcord games. They had one of those tabs you'd pull across the top of the box ripping it open. I'm sure it must have felt very gratifying for those who pulled it open. I could never bring myself to do that.
Did you keep your boxes? Or chuck em like the rest of us plebs :p

Kept most (if not all). Silly when I think of it now. Should have chucked them, or at least compressed them.
I never used them. I wanted to keep them clean and original.
I was always sad when I bought a used game (or even rented one) and someone had defiled the notes section of the manual with anything.

Back when I rented Genesis games from Blockbuster I would always consider myself lucky if the game came with a manual. I considered myself more fortunate if the manual was untouched. In some cases even the cart would be vandalized in some way.
I never used them.

I did create a massive journal in NWN though.
As much as I'd use them for passwords for games that used them, I can't recall actually doing it more than once. I think mostly because the glossy paper in the manuals made for bad writing most of the time.

When I rented SNES games they almost NEVER came with a manual. Stupid kids would tear them up or lose them.

Little bastards.
Never used it, I usually took a random piece of paper or the paper-box of whatever I ate shortly before that or anything else which was just lying around.
The manual was usually in the box and I was too lazy to get that when I wanted to note something.
