Either it's a Summer Sale or a batch of games from one of the big publishers. Most likely the former.

Without knowing precisely why there are no weekly staff picks, would you say it's time for us customers to crack each other's heads open and feast on the goo inside?

Not always.

Maybe we're going to have the second half of the last major sale, which will include almost all the games that were not on sale in the first half. At least GOG has done all major sales that way the last years.

On the other hand we could be presented with just a delayed weekly staff pick. It has happened many times too.

True. Also, the Steam Autumn Sale is supposed to begin on Wednesday, and GOG usually stays out of their way during that time.
