Read this last night. Really good article, and anything that draws some attention to the importance and difficulty of preserving games is a win in my book.

Very interesting, thanks for posting! Did GOG ever try to restore old Linux builds, like old Rune Classic Linux port by Loki?

Also, I'd like to see an article about GOG pushing publishers to release games DRM-free and all the background efforts and convincing which goes into it. That would be a very interesting story as well.

This actually made me curious about the contacting the community for older games. I have quite a selection of older games in pristine condition that I can't bear to throw out, but am not attached to any longer. I've been giving them away to strangers through reddit, but I'd rather want them going to a place like gog.com where I know they'd have use and be appreciated.

I wonder if there are any gog staffer reading this who'd know the right person for this. Maybe I have a few games they need, be it for the "goodies" or the disks themselves.

Well, if I'm not mistaken, Judas is sometimes tasked with tracking down manuals and such.

Wow thats a long post. I read halfway but it was very informative so far. I can understand now why some games are still not on GOG.
