I thought they were supposed to resurrect the Dungeon Master IP too.
As long the original stays, i'm okay with this.
As long as they don't bite more than they can chew, as they did with System Shock... just saying. :(
In theory, updated character models could be good: the main visual defect in an otherwise beautiful game was the way characters near the camera would be so terribly pixellated. In practice... we'll see.

Just to clarify: it's actually worse than that.

Their f*ck up is literally epic.

Basically Mr. Stephen Kick used the money collected through a kickstarter campaign not to develop the game Nightdive was supposed to deliver but instead 1.35M USD were used to pitch a concept of a totally different System Shock game, that nobody asked for, to a publisher hoping to get it funded.
Publisher denied funding ---> all money gone!

And it gets worse, way worse than that.

All of that happened without asking, not even informing the people who gave their money for a "Faithful Remake" of a classic, one of the most influential games over there.

Backers were left in dark the for years with just a few updates about concept art until I stepped up and asked clearly if it was still financially sustainable after years, someone took the liberty of insulting me because of my negativity.

The following update was about Mr. Stephen Kick telling us that the money was gone and the project was put on hold.

All along people asking questions were ignored, people asking refunds were denied them, people on their discord got banned. And let's not forget that the backers gave their money on a demo that at some point was trashed

Updates are timestamped: you can check the date and go back through the comment section check my words if you want proof.
Mr Stephen Kick then took some months to reorganize the team and put the project back in development with Nightdive's money.

All good then?
No, not at all.

Now, four years later they are still developing a game that is not what we were promised and they are cutting corners left and right.

So, no, that's not just "more than they could chew" is lying in the face of your backers, is not just incomptence, is arrogance.

Forgive my venting but every time I read: Nighdive is reviving this or that I feel all the frustration coming back and I just hope that they keep their paws out of the stuff I love and care about before they ruin it.

wolfsite: The Gamespot article about this mentioned the original version being on GOG.

Though the just link to a previous article about the GOG release rather than linking directly to GOG.
Gotta boost those views, man
Looks like we aren't getting Nightdives DOOM 64 port either. March 20/Steam release.

Dean478: So GOG gets this game back in the spotlight and then someone else swoops in and steals it off elsewhere... sounds about right. :/
Gee, it's almost like Night Dive has been doing this exact same thing for seven years now.

Yah, they pissed away all my goodwill over the years. Saving old classics from rights hell is all fine and dandy, but now they focus on Beamdog-tier overpriced remasters and securing the rights for Steam releases every time gog scores an exclusive. They really can kiss my ass at this point. And don't get me started about the System Shock remake...

Okay? That still doesn't make it right...

That's on Bethesda.
