I won't waste your time, I'm gonna just lay this on the line quickly. I want to buy some games like Terraria, but GOG connect doesn't have it applicable yet to cross with my steam account, so I'll have to buy it separately here. Now, I'm familiar with how GOG works, where you get an installer that you can download anytime in your account, but I'd like to know how the games update. I love playing Terraria with mods, but on steam updates are kind of mandatory unless you play offline, and updates break the mod loader that I use. Will I be forced to update my game if I buy the GOG version? Or are updates completely optional? That is a feature I'm not a fan of on steam, so could GOG help me out here?
Optional, with some buts:

- if you do the manual download, either through browser or the Downloader, it's all up to you.
- if you go with Galaxy, I believe updates are optional but you have to turn OFF that feature.

Welcome along!
Also of note: there is a rollback feature of some sort in Galaxy.

It doesn't appear to have all versions of the game (Terraria only seems to go back to 1.3.4.4), but should you update something and find that a mod wasn't actually updated yet, you can roll back to another version in Galaxy.

I don't know what caveats there are regarding this aside from the above mentioned lack of the earliest versions of Terraria though. I haven't used the feature myself aside from just now seeing if it worked.

That's all good to hear. All I needed to know was that the updates were optional, and 1.3.4.4 is actually the perfect starting point for update rollbacks. Thank you very much guys.
