It seems that Slitherine have acquired the IP for the "Master of Magic" game (GOG has already changed the publisher's name on the game card)

It was one of the "founding fathers" of the 4X genre. And I think there's a good chance that the game may appear here. Let's all hope the Slitherine folks can honour its legacy :)
I like Slitherine but they are not worthy to handle the IP ! give up the IP or it's war.

Also watch out for DLC milking.

oh FFS!
Look on the bright side, folks.

One of the "big ones" could've picked up the IP. And then we'd have a sweet "Master of MAAAgic" full of cool micro-transactions and plenty of colorful shiny armor and extra "+4" weapons to purchase online for your heroes.
First Master of Orion and now Master of Magic. Looking on the bright side mode on.

Well... even if the game turns out to be complete shite it will at least help to bring some attention to the Master of Magic name, which has been forgotten for a very long time now.
Many people still assume that it was Heroes of Might & Magic who created the "Fantasy 4X" genre.
I'm not good at looking at the bright side or being positive but instead of reviving, remaking, remaster IP's, why can't developers nowadays make their own new fresh IP instead of reviving dead things that should stay dead !

I will try to be open minded here instead of expecting a horror story of epic proportions of a great game from the past.

I've never though of HoMM as a basis for "Fanstasy 4X" genre. And even if it is why not King's Bounty (1990)?
MOM was one of my favorite DOS games. I'll adopt a wait and see approach on this one. But I can't deny that I'm a bit excited.
Best to have extremely low hope for this to come to anything playable and we just might get pleasantly surprised.

I'm not stating that HoMM is a "Fantasy 4X" creator. It clearly isn't (it even lacks diplomacy, for starters). But many folks still think it was. In fact HoMM is basically a remake of King's Bounty.

And "Warlords" was already doing almost the same thing as HoMM 5 years earlier.

I'm a simple creature. No dragon turtles = no purchase.
Interesting. Now that the AoW franchise has taken a sci-fi turn, Slitherine has a good chance to attract Master of Magic fans. Let's see if they can do it right, and make some worthy title...
Videos of new changes coming soon.
