phaolo: That's the best non-Skylake i7, right?
It costs 170€ more than the i5-4790k however, so.. probably nope.

PainOfSalvation: i5-4790k doesn't exist, i7 however does. :P Best Haswell-E is i7-5960X but i7-5820K is best cost-effective cpu for the money. Dunno about the prices in Italy but here in Serbia i could get i7-4790K for 315 eur and i7-5820K for 365 eur which is only 50 eur difference.
Too many models @_@
I meant 4690.

i5 4690k is still overkill for most games at the moment. At the moment its equivalent to the new i5-6500 on Skylake architecture which basically has the same speed and processing power and is at the moment recommended as the high end processor. Here link to Tom's processor hierarchy list: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/cpu-hierarchy,4312.html
Does anyone own a Skylake here?
Can you check if SGX can be disabled in the BIOS?
Also, I wonder if they could work at all in Win7..
Damn, I was ready to buy a Skylake with the current good prices..
But that SGX...

BUMP during the promo.
People with Skylake, please post here.
*update*

Elsewhere I was reassured that Z170 mobos would have had a SGX toggle in the BIOS, so I decided to buy a Skylake.
Well, I couldn't find any, even with the latest version!

Luckly I noticed that my CPU model is one of those shipped without SGX lol.
Hopefully I avoided some crappy feature and not something great O_o'

I've now assembled the pc, installed a custom Win7 iso and I'm currently fighting with driver installations and Win Update XD

The (real) boot is so fast with an SSD :' )

Nice, what did you buy in the end?

An i5-6600K : )
The rest is the same in the OP, but I chose the case Fractal Design Define R5.
I'd also like a new powerful GPU and G-synch display, but they currently cost like the rest of the computer..
