ZFR: Try this:
Download and install VLC media player.
Open game folder, open "movies" folder. See if you can play any of the files using VLC media player. If not, you could be missing codecs.
Doesn't VLC use its own internal codecs, meaning that whether a video plays or not on it doesn't say anything about missing codecs (outside of VLC)? That's why I actually prefer using VLC, because with it I don't have to separately install all kinds of video or audio codecs than tend to cause problems elsewhere, like that freaking K-Lite Codec Pack. For instance the "static sound" issue that some people have had with the X series games is apparently because of some such extra codec pack they had installed (I don't have the issue on a fresh Windows 7 installation). Also previously I had all kinds of odd audio issues due to the extra AC3 ffdshow whatever codecs I had installed over the time...

Even with codecs around, there may be differences with the videso being played by the game, or running them in a standalone media player. For instance when I played Wheel of Time on Windows 7, it has some issue where the Quicktime videos are played as slideshows within the game, even if you have Quicktime installed on your PC. But when you play the same videos on a standalone player (even Quicktime, or is it called just iTunes nowadays), they play fine.

Probably yes, but it was worth a try.

Ha, that indeed!
Why is this low-rated ? Just curious...

You had to bump this thread didn't you, you had to bump it thus making other people de-rep me even more :P

I'm gonna lose more rep-points because people low rate it to darken it or on their computers will not appear.

Oops, sorry about that. It wasn't my intention. It's weird 'cause I don't see any signs of it being low rated (and I certainly didn't rate any of your posts).

i use VLC a lot but it is rather slow for playing "HD" videos on an intergrated chip, that and glitches that give me "rainbow" colors every now and then. after tinkering around with the CCCP codec pak settings, i found the pre-installed WMP 12 works much better for HD videos.

i still like the speed settings, highly customisable UI,and other features in VLC... maybe too many features. they makes config-ing VLC a bit of a chore.
